With a track record of innovation and development, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices based in Witney, Oxfordshire. The site manufactures significant quantities of test strips annually and has also been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the next generation FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, launched in September 2014. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Specialist – EHS to join our EHS team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting keeping the Witney operation safe and compliant. You will interpret business standards and UK regulations, ensure this is reflected and up to date in site policies and procedures, and collaborate with cross functional teams to aid implementation. You will share your expertise in a variety of areas, including laser safety, electrical safety, contractor management, incident response and investigation, and compliance audits.

To be successful, you will be Degree qualified in a Science of Engineering discipline, as well as IOSH/NEBOSH (Diploma) qualified. You will bring with you a breadth of EHS experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing and engineering environment. You will also bring experience of compliance audits, electrical safety, and laser safety. We’re looking for someone who is ambitious, highly organised, and excited about joining a team at the forefront of Diabetes Care innovation. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a small team, but interact on a wider business scale. You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.

As you’d expect from an innovative global healthcare company, we offer an excellent starting salary, and a competitive range of benefits including a defined contribution pension scheme, share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme.
