Our Development Infrastructure team specialises in providing highly sustainable development infrastructure solutions from planning, through design to full implementation. We are seeking to recruit an ambitious Senior Engineer who is seeking to take the next exciting step in their career and join our team in Cambridge.

The Development Infrastructure team specialises in providing innovative and high value solutions to our private and public sector clients on the planning, design of major high profile development projects. These cover the widest range of challenges and include highways, place making, sewerage, SuDS, building drainage, earthworks, flood risk assessment and protection and utilities planning and co-ordination.

We serve clients from the widest spectrum of sectors including residential, retail, industrial & commercial, transportation, healthcare, energy and education covering both the UK and overseas markets.
The team works closely with our other disciplines on high profile major multi-disciplinary projects and plays a fundamental part in the success of our vibrant team.

A typical week would include:

* Providing day to day support in the delivery of concept studies / strategies with hands on design, leading to planning applications, technical approval submissions and construction drawing issue

* Contributing to all types of DI projects across all sectors and clients

* Being active on a number of project/client accounts at any given time. You will be supported by a team of experienced and developing technical staff of various grades, to whom you will be expected to provide guidance and support as appropriate

* Involvement in high profile client engagement, stakeholder management, design team liaison (both internal and with other external multidisciplinary professionals) and project management

* Being responsible, or actively engaged depending on experience, for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

* Knowledge of, and experience in road design, drainage strategy and design, flood risk assessment and management, utility design and planning as well as a good working knowledge of the Development Industry

* An appreciation of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics and building structures is desirable as well as an understanding of construction design stages and procedures

* The ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings

* A good knowledge of the relevant design codes such as Sewers for Adoption, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, Local Authority Design Guidance and are well versed in the preparation of drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals

* Good written and spoken communication skills and are aware of current and emerging technical and planning guidance on climate change and sustainability

* The ability to use or direct and check the use of relevant software including WINDES and Civils 3D and/or PDS.

* Experience of liaison with clients, co-professionals and design teams, and are competent in liaising with highway, water, statutory and local authorities to negotiate the necessary outline and detailed technical approvals and statutory agreements typically relating to development projects.

* A good knowledge of the relevant legal processes, planning, design, design software, technical consents process, adoption and contract procedures for the provision of sewers, SUDS, highways and utilities to new developments and regeneration projects and how if, applied effectively, these skills combine to add value to a client’s development proposal

* A robust knowledge of the financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering both large and small projects

* Post graduate (or equivalent) experience and are at least nearing Chartership or have equivalent commercial experience and responsibility.
