Job Summary
AECOM are seeking a Senior Energy/Carbon Consultant to support the growth of our Policy and Research team. We provide strategic analysis and advice to both local and national Government clients on policies to reduce energy use and carbon emissions across all buildings types, whilst ensuring that the buildings are healthy and comfortable places to live and work. This is complemented by delivering innovative research for the Government and research bodies to underpin the advice we provide.
The Policy and Research team forms part of our London-based Sustainable Development Group. There will also be an opportunity to work on a broader range of project activities within this Group. In particular, this includes developing energy and sustainability strategies to support the design and planning of new developments, and analysis and advice related to the resilience of UK and international cities and city scale decarbonisation strategies.
Role
The key requirements of the role are to:
Lead and deliver projects particularly on research and policy advice to clients
Develop policy options with clients and support stakeholder engagement to build consensus for policy developments
Undertake data analysis and provide interpretation and intelligence from the results
Undertake or oversee building energy modelling; this may be SAP modelling and/or dynamic simulation modelling (such as IES)
Write clear and high-quality project reports
Build effective relationships with clients
Present externally and chair meetings
Support and, as required, lead the delivery of bids, from early client engagement through to winning bid submissions
Operate collaboratively to make best use of available resources across AECOM and project partners
Minimum Requirements
*
A science, engineering or building-related degree; a building sustainability/energy related MSc/ post-graduate degree is highly desirable
*
Strong understanding of energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy in the built environment, including the policy and regulatory context, building physics and technologies.
*
Experience in undertaking research related to reducing energy and carbon emissions in buildings
*
Logical thinker with strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
*
Experience in building energy modelling for domestic and/or non-domestic buildings
*
An ability to communicate effectively, be client-facing and able to write concise and clear reports;
*
Experience of stakeholder engagement and stakeholder workshop facilitation
*
Experience in bidding for or supporting the winning of work
*
Experience in leading projects with minimum supervision, including project, client, and contractor management
Preferred Qualifications
If not currently chartered, ideally should be working towards chartership with a relevant institution (e.g. CIBSE, Energy Institute, IEMA)
Extensive professional experience in energy/carbon consulting, or other related experience in the consulting industry and/or academic research.
