About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our Rail team to work in Derby.

Role Purpose

To ensure that Electronic systems and developed, built and deployed to the satisfaction of the company and the Client, meeting the primary objectives of safety, quality and value within the constraints of budget and timescale.
The Senior Electronics Engineer will demonstrate a strong technical understanding of electrical and electronics principles and a proven record of developing systems through the design and implementation phases of projects

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Electronics Engineer, your main responsibilities are as follows:

* Producing and reviewing electronics design to product and project requirements
* Development of electronic systems to design Build and assembly of electronics systems
* Testing of electronics systems Contribution to reviews and designs of systems with hardware and software engineers
* Line management of electronics engineers
* Mentoring of junior electronics engineers
* Investigating and resolving complex faults
* Sometimes required to work in the field on installed systems (including rail environment)

Who we're looking for

The following qualities and experience are essential:

* Engineering degree in a relevant discipline at 2:1 level or above; or
* Minimum HNC with validated experience in Electrical and Electronic design
* Excellent IT skills;
* Proven experience of PCB design tools such as KiCAD or OrCAD;
* Experience of analogue electronic design;
* Experience of digital electronic design in areas such as microprocessors;
* Troubleshooting complex faults; Ability to manage own workload;
* Ability to delegate and manage the workloads of others;
* Ability of manage and mentor others;
* Organised and keen attention to detail;
* Good communication skills;
* Provides positive energy within the team and builds trusted relationships with colleagues.

The following qualities and experience are desirable:

* Previous line management experience;
* Professionally qualified or working towards professional qualification;
* Ability to hold PTS (or equivalent qualifications for other railways);
* Familiar with the railway industry;
