WSP have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer, in our Basingstoke office. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and prestigious projects in the world.

WSP are currently involved in numerous projects which will reshape the landscape and skyline of London. Although a multi-disciplinary consultancy, the WSP MEP team are a tight knit group, working closely to deliver some of the largest and most complex buildings in the UK and Europe. The Basingstoke office are heavily involved in mission critical facilities associated with aviation and healthcare sectors and have recently completed the design of a state of the art airport in Saudi Arabia.

The Guildford & Basingstoke team are close group of engineers working together in an effective and cooperative team atmosphere with a flexible approach to working practices allowing staff to manage a positive work life balance.

A typical week would include:

* Meeting the requirements of a Senior Engineer' grade and leading projects for your discipline and for an overall project team.

* Work in a senior capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice within a multidisciplinary approach on a wide range of projects.

* Work in a senior capacity in the coordination of specialist disciplines such as fire, security, BMS, IT etc. and ensure the MEP schemes accommodate all requirements of the specialists.

* Preparation and supervision of the completion of detailed designs for yourself and the work of others in this function. The detailed design activities will consist of development of reports, technical specifications, drawings and calculation models using industry recognised software applications. You will engineer in a data driven environment using 3D modelling software to prepare reporting, technical drawings, schedules, and calculations.

* Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.

* Regularly brief the project team, explaining the appointment. Make sure all team members have access to the agreed appointment documents.

* Review and input where required to the detailed design programme and ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete the works.

* Lead the completion and regular amendment to the project 'Cost to Complete' (CTC). Monitor the work of the project engineers and compare weekly against the previously agreed CTC. Flag up any potential 'profit' or 'loss' to your DTL when compared to the agreed fee.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

* Proven track record in leading projects

* Achieved Chartership via an Engineering Council accredited honours degree or specific experience.

* HNC in Building services Engineering or applicable discipline and showing commitment to continue with higher education.

Key Technical Requirements

* Having an understanding of the British and European Standards, Codes of Practice and Regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this in project execution.

* Have working understanding of latest electrical design software packages to allow the completion / allocation / direction of work on projects.

* Have understanding of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allow the completion / allocation / direction of work on projects.

* Have working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the completion / allocation / direction of work on projects.

Electrical Skills:

* Understanding of HV distribution systems architecture

* Low voltage distribution systems

* Low voltage standby generation systems

* UPS systems

* Cable calculations using Amtech

* Cable calculations by hand

* Internal, external and emergency lighting schemes and their controls systems architecture

* Lighting calculations (via software and by hand)

* Small power systems

* Fire detection and alarm systems

* Refuge alarm systems

* Understanding of fire suppressions systems and interfaces with other electrical engineering systems

* Security systems including intruder detection, access control, CCTV etc

* IT / data wiring architecture

* BMS system philosophies / principles

* Containment systems
