Job Summary

We are currently looking for a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer with proven post-qualification experience in electrical engineering to work within the AECOM Building Services Team based in our Plymouth offices.

Our Plymouth offices are located in Plumer House and is base for our multi-disciplined group of over 70 staff of which 16 are within the building services MEP disciplines whom form part of the larger Building Services engineering team in the AECOM South West and Wales region.

The Building Services team are involved in a variety of local, national and international projects for various sectors including academia, healthcare, rail, commercial, defence & sustainability. The Plymouth office is one of AECOMs recognised UK centres of excellence for defence projects and so this sector currently forms a major part of the project work.

The role will be to primarily design and lead projects or sub disciplines.

This role will suit an established electrical or building services engineer who is enthusiastic, self-motivated and looking to strengthen their career in building services electrical design within AECOM.

Core Accountabilities – depending on level

*

Co-ordinates and manages project teams and small to mid size projects.

*

Serves as discipline Lead engineer on mid-to large- size projects.

*

Provides specialised technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

*

Approves and signs off on work.

*

Provides technical direction for studies and design efforts.

*

Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

*

Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.

*

Participates in development of technical proposals.

*

Provides scopes and estimates for the engineering budget and schedule and oversees technical resources to meet requirements on large projects.

*

Prepares specifications, schedules, drawings, calculations and any other contract deliverables when needed.

*

Liaison with Clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub contractors and other designers.

*

Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of their Clients.

Minimum Requirements

*

An Electrical Engineer or Building Services Engineer

*

A track record of having worked on a variety of Building Services designs covering for example, Education, Defence, Healthcare and Commercial projects and delivering to quality, time and budget.

*

Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.

*

A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, able to inspire, influence and negotiate.

*

A member of a professional Institution (e.g. IET) and close to achieving professional chartered status if not already chartered.

*

Able to make good decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way to enhance and protect AECOM.

*

Excellent report writing skills, experience of making presentations and attending meetings with clients.

*

The successful candidate will be already UK MoD Security Cleared or must be able to attain security clearance within the probation period.

* Bachelors of Degree in Engineering field
