Building Performance Engineering

Location:

Bristol

Opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our thriving Building Performance Engineering Division located at Merchants House in Bristol (BS1 4RW), our large multidisciplinary office overlooking the Harbourside.

Hydrock is an independently owned multidisciplinary consultancy, of circa 500 staff, operating out of 17 offices. It is one of The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For and a champion of well-being (note our recent Health and Wellbeing Leader of the Year award at the NCE100). You can check out our values here. We are currently growing at 10% per annum. We believe part of our success is looking after our people and our values help create a unique, dynamic, working environment.

Our BPE business offers ‘one stop’ world-class environmental designs including acoustics, building physics, façade performance, mechanical and electrical systems, lighting design, occupational analysis, public health engineering, and low-to-zero carbon technologies.

We bring a fresh approach to M&E, getting involved early, working collaboratively within the design team, highlighting options, guiding the design development and using our expertise to help clients make key decisions – an approach that always results in a building that delivers. Our solutions are tailored to the client – with simplicity of design often key, but with the ability to deliver bespoke highly technical solutions as well.

We work across all sectors, including commercial, industrial, educational, logistics, heritage, retail, leisure and residential for end user clients, investors, developers, architects, and project managers or engineer-led project teams. This diversity of work streams and the fact all team members work across every sector means we are constantly cross-pollinating ideas.

Core job functions

* Supporting or leading on a number of projects
* Assist the design from site appraisal/feasibility stage
* Assist with detailed design to construction status information
* Liaison with design team, statutory authorities and contractors
* Assist with site surveys and inspection work
* Development of junior staff as and when required.

The person we seek

* A proven Senior Electrical Engineer, with a strong track record in the UK
* An articulate communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills
* Sound Knowledge of BIM processes, Revit and IES/Amtech
* Ambitious and dynamic, you enjoy change and variety
* Positive outlook and self-motivated
* Someone who believes in our values and wishes to be part of Hydrock and contribute to our success.

What you can expect at Hydrock

Inspired and motivated colleagues. A good team, office and employer. A genuine opportunity to create and to be recognised and rewarded.

The remuneration package will include a competitive salary and employer pension contribution, 25 days annual leave (with the option to buy/sell up to five days), wellbeing bonus and a wide variety of flexible benefits. There are also little things like a paid day off for good causes and free fresh fruit in the office.

A career with Hydrock offers you the chance to achieve your potential in a strongly people-focused and values-led business that provides great opportunities for professional and personal development.

Hydrock is an Equal Opportunities Employer.

Whilst we assess and manage the impact of COVID-19, we have decided to continue recruiting for our vacancies but do not currently anticipate offering any of the positions until June/July. We are working on the basis this is a pause rather than a stop! We wish you good health and all the best for the coming months.
