Senior DevOps Engineer (Oracle Public Cloud Compute infrastructure)-18000A3O

Preferred Qualifications

Compute is the core of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Classic (OCIC). We deal with wide range of areas: from datacenter infrastructure management to life cycle management, from capacity scaling, to monitoring and troubleshooting an API.

You will be joining a growing, agile, world-class team of engineers, who develop and automate the provisioning, management, and monitoring of Oracle Public Cloud Compute infrastructure.

As a DevOps engineer you will be tasked with developing, maintaining and troubleshoot the platform that automates the provisioning and monitoring of our fleet. You will solve interesting technical challenges in an automated, secure, scalable and reliable manner. This includes, but it is not limited to:

* Ownership of the architecture, design, implementation, testing and operations of components of the infrastructure automation platform
* Design reusable APIs and build repeatable templates for common functions.
* Work across business and operations stakeholder to understand solution needs and capabilities required to improve solution offerings
* Develop and/or enhance solutions that meet business needs and provide required levels of cost, reliability and performance
* Analyze best practices and emerging concepts in Infrastructure Automation to improve team development process
* Continuous deployment to production environment for latest and greatest
* Peer with Compute development team to troubleshoot software application issue
* Participate in on-call rotation to provide Tier3 support of production issues

Qualifications

* Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, distributed systems, and experience supporting multi-tier web application architectures in a web scale environment
* Solid understanding of application design, including the operational trade-offs of various designs
* Solid understanding of Unix/Linux internals
* Demonstrated experienced coding skills in Python and Bash
* Working knowledge of one or more automation tools like Ansible, Chef
* Prior experience in Elasticsearch and Graphite
* Experience in collaborating tools, such as JIRA and Confluence
* Prior experience in using Cloud Provider Service such as Oracle Public Cloud, Amazon Web Service, Microsoft Azure or Google Compute Engine
* 5+ years experience in production service trouble-shooting that spans applications, systems and network
* BS/MS in CS or Engineering

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
