Strategic business unit:

Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems provides aircraft braking systems to a diverse group of customers including airline operators, aircraft constructors, private aircraft owners and charter operators, governments and military operations and distributors and repair stations

We are located in Akron, Danville and Gardena in the United States; Coventry in the UK plus Fresnillo and Queretaro in Mexico, with repair stations in USA, Europe and Asia
• We occupy lead positions in aircraft wheels, brakes and brake control systems

• Our products are on an active fleet of over 30,000 aircraft

• We are a significant braking system supplier to regional jets, business jets and military aircraft

• Our capability includes helicopter rotor brakes and brake temperature monitoring

Purpose:

To play a full and active role in the activities and operations of the Design team
Responsibilities:

 Responsible for one or more LRU’s on a project or across multiple projects

 Responsible for LRU product development including review of the SOW and customer interface requirements

 Responsible for construction of the Master Layout and LRU interface control models

 Leads the design development effort to ensure all project milestones and LTA targets are satisfied on time

 On large projects the Lead Designer works directly with the Lead Engineer who is responsible for coordinating the delivery of the entire W&B work package
 Responsible for tracking and reporting the status of the development process including LTA status, weight, etc
 Responsible for maintaining Engineering Schedule for assigned LRU’s. This includes support work required from other departments to support the LRU development. The Lead Designer is also responsible for tracking design drafting milestones

 Interfaces with assigned Test Engineer to develop test axle CATIA model, test fixture and test set-up drawings Senior Designer works closely with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to ensure designs are manufacturable

Maintains LRU parts lists and works with Drafting to ensure drawings are completed and released on-time per the LTA schedule

 Interfaces and consults with Product Line Expert (PLE) as required

 Interfaces with Lead Engineer, Functional Manager and other Engineering team members as required to ensure progress is being made while also identifying constrains and roadblocks that need to be addresse

 Supports Lead Engineer internal/external design reviews as required by the Lead Design Engineer

Key skills and competencies required:

• Associate Engineering Degree or equivalent

• Product development experience including design, manufacturing and testing

• Working knowledge of GD&T, SAP, CATIA, SmarTeam, and Micro-Soft Office

• Extensive Product development experience including design and manufacturing

• Experience of working on delivering high value product

• Experience of designing equipment (Aerospace, Automotive tier 1 businesses)

• Experience of designing from concept through to delivery

• Extensive Designer experience

• Experience of Leading and working as a Lead within a team of designer
