What is the purpose of the role?
This is a key role that sits within our Developer Services team at Thames Water. You will be required to design and price the provision of new clean water mains and service connections to serve new developments in accordance with both Thames Water Utilities, and our customers' requirements. As a Senior Design Estimator you will be responsible to design, and produce cost estimates for new clean water mains and service connections to our existing mains network. You will ensure we provide first class customer service to our customers, keeping them up to date with their projects throughout the life cycle of work from receipt of their application form, through to acceptance and payment of their connection quotation and beyond.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a self-motivated team, where you will have involvement in both technical and customer facing activity. A development boom is predicted for the Southeast England over the coming 5-10 year period which Thames Water`s developer services department is fundamental to the success. This role is both technical as well as customer facing, dealing with small developers right through to directors of large construction companies. You will be working alongside a team of knowledgeable water mains designers with several years of experience.
What will this role involve?
Prepare designs and quotations for water mains, diversions, abandonment's and new connections, including the application of infrastructure charges. This will extend to Self-Lay and Inset schemes.
Deal with customer enquiries and liaise with other parts of the business in the effective delivery of new infrastructure and new connections whilst at all times protecting Thames Water's assets.
Prepare and issue work packages to the Project Manager/Field team and help progress each project through to delivery ensuring that asset protection requirements and Permit to Work procedures have been followed correctly.
Develop excellent relationships with customers and ensure that they receive an exceptional experience.
Provide high quality customer service through prompt and professional response to customer contacts via different media whilst proactively keeping customers informed of progress.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone that is experienced in water network design and/or educated to a degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering or other relevant discipline. You will ideally have previous knowledge of the developer marketplace and utility industries, as well as having a strong commercial acumen to perform this role to the best of your ability. With this highly customer focused role, you must possess exceptional communication skills and the ability to build relationships at ease, both over the telephone and face to face. As a customer satisfaction driven individual, you will always have the customer in mind and ensure you are going above and beyond to make sure they are receiving the best possible service. To be considered for this role you must demonstrate that you are organised and self-motivated to achieve results. A high level of accuracy in the work you produce and an eye for detail is also essential. You will also need to be fully sufficient in MS Office- this includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Please note, a full, clean UK driving licence is preferred however not essential for this role.

This role is based in Clearwater Court, Reading and is offering a salary of £22,950, depending on skills and experience.
