To work within a concurrent engineering Project team reporting to the MDO Group leader. To liaise with stress, thermal & mechanical sub-system groups & having a good appreciation of their work.

Description of the job:
Are you a passionate experienced Designer looking to work within the Space industry?

You will be joining the Mechanical Design Office (MDO) at Airbus Defence & Space in Stevenage. Responsible for maintaining a high degree of CAD competence in spacecraft design & accommodation including Detailed Design within an engineering group or Project team environment.

To liaise with all the internal & external customers in the product groups & business units

Task & accountabilities:

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:



Responsibility for the control, correctness, accuracy and relevance of all
drawings, models, Digital Mock-Up (DMU), bill of materials and Engineering Change Notes as related to the configured items for allocated project(s) to cost and schedule.



Carry out DMU design accommodation activities given a detailed top-level requirement specification with little or no guidance.



Ensuring all outputs from the Mechanical Design Office (MDO) are correct to the project requirements as stated by the core team (generally the Responsible Engineer) All the project Design Office outputs must be checked, signed and stamped by the lead designer to the MDO checklists and CATIA procedures.



Support and administer the checking and release of drawings, BOM's & ECO's related to the allocated project.



Support the Lead Designer with the estimation and planning of DO related activities and manpower requirements to meet those tasks.



Support other MDO design engineers working on the project. Coaching /mentoring as required.
Providing support to other general DO activities, e.g. Process improvements, bids etc.

Required skills :



Excellent working knowledge and experience of CATIA V5 and / or 3Dexperience (V6)



Strong Engineering & technical background including working knowledge of GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and DFM (Design for Manufacture).



Practical understanding of Design solutions
