Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an opportunity for a Senior Control and Instrumentation Engineer on a Permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work, in accordance with the Discipline Design Instructions, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man-hour, cost budgets and the project schedule targets. The role will be based in Staines.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have demonstrable leadership qualities. They will be confident in their own ability to deliver the Control and Instrumentation scope on a project on time and within budget, while facilitating effective work share with other execution centres around the world.

* Produce designs for Instrument systems and equipment
* Prepare adequate drawings, specifications, data sheets, calculations and other pertinent engineering and design
documentation to enable the procurement of Instrument equipment packages and their subsequent installation,
commissioning and safe operation
* Generation of project deliverable documents, including production, checking and approval as required to meet stated
project requirements
* Maintain effective interfaces between the Instrument project team and other discipline teams, Client representatives and
other third parties as required
* Maintain co-ordination of design information with Instrument Designers for ongoing design issues
* Represent the Instrument discipline internally and externally as required
* Provide progress reporting input to the Lead Engineer
* Follow discipline and project working procedures
* To participate in development training as agreed with the Instrument Department Manager
* Assist in developing bids for new work
* Assist with ongoing training and development of engineers in engineering & design activities

Skills / Qualifications

* Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Instrument Engineering
* Oil and gas sector engineering experience (or Chemical Industry as appropriate)
* Familiarity with quality management systems in engineering design
* Preferably a Member of the InstMC or IET Institute
* Aptitude to extend working knowledge
* Co-operative attitude
* Effective communicator
* Flexible worker
