Salary Range: £40,000-£60,000 (Depending on Experience)
Location: Peterborough
Benefits: 25 days annual leave,
10-18% bonus (Depending on Experience)
Annual Car Allowance - £6960 (Depending on Experience)
Contributory pension scheme- Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution Up to 10%

The Innovation & Technology Development team offers some of the most exciting engineering roles within the Caterpillar global organisation. Working on the integration of electronic and electrical systems within multiple Caterpillar products provides the opportunity to work with multiple disciplines within the organisation.

The integration of the latest Electronics and Electrical technology helps differentiate Caterpillar products from its competitors by enabling exceptional performance and value to the customer. Our engine systems control air and fuel delivery with millisecond precision to maximise performance and minimise exhaust emissions. Our integrated machine systems control all aspects of construction machine operation (engine, transmission, hydraulic systems), provide the human-machine interface (operator controls and information displays), and constantly monitor and communicate position, operation, diagnostic and prognostic information to enable machine automation, improved productivity and enhanced serviceability.

The Advanced Components & Technologies (AC&T) division, based in Peterborough (UK), have an exciting opportunity to join the team to lead the development of components for electric powertrains. The successful candidate will work closely with component suppliers throughout Europe to develop components that meet the exacting requirements for Caterpillar products. Component scope may include:

•Switched Reluctance / Axial Flux Motors

•DC/AC Inverter Motor Control/Drives

•DC/DC Converters

•AC/DC battery chargers

•DC Electric Auxiliary Components (Fan, Water Pump, Heater, Compressor etc.)

Key Responsibilities

1.Work with component suppliers to ensure components meet requirements

2.Support APQP activities

3.Coordinate component validation testing

Skills and Experience:

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

1.Strong technical background (good technical degree preferred in mechanical/electrical engineering disciplines) though other qualifications / experience will be considered.

2.Previous demonstrable experience of electric vehicle component development

3.Proven Engineer with a background in component development and validation of electric components

Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

1.Prior experience of electric vehicle development

2.Battery pack design for electric vehicles

3.Knowledge of linear actuator applications
