The role is based at the Arup ‘Campus’ in Solihull, a purpose built office which comprises over 600 people representing the full range of professional services we offer.

Our UK-based Infrastructure Advisory team undertakes a wide range of work providing strategic advice to infrastructure owners and operators, especially in the rail and highways sectors. Our client base includes government and private asset owners, operators and regulators.

Due to our expanding workload we require a Senior Project Manager to work on a range of advisory projects in the transportation sector and assist in developing our offering in the water, energy, and aviation sectors. The role will be suited to an individual with a keen interest and track record in the delivery of challenging solutions.

Role

As a Senior Project Manager in the Infrastructure Advisory team we require an individual to be the client facing consultant to develop the brief, drive and contribute to the effective delivery of the work through to handover. As well as developing robust technical solutions, you will support other team members in business development activities including client requirements capture and producing proposals.

You will be required to support opportunity development and project work including:

Act as project manager and main point of contact between client and the project delivery team, as required

*

Develop and build strong client relationships and command the confidence of others, internally and externally

*

Support the Arup Project Director to develop our service offering and produce compelling proposals for consultancy services

*

Lead and contribute to the delivery of advisory services to ensure deliverables met client expectations

*

Chair and minute project progress and delivery team meetings

*

Prepare monthly project client reports

*

Manage project programme and cost plan, where applicable

*

Manage client stakeholders

*

Liaise with other Arup project managers and wider advisory team to ensure best practice and knowledge transfer

*

Continually seek to broaden knowledge and contact base, including awareness of broader business, economic and political environment.

*

Report to Arup Project Director

Requirements and skills

Knowledge of a broad range of related topics including the majority of:

*

Strategic and tactical asset management

*

Investment and business case support

*

Information and systems advice including data analytics

*

Risk and resilience

*

Guidance, standards and specifications development

*

Procurement and performance requirements

*

Cost and efficiency advice

*

Audit and assurance; including maturity assessment for improvement planning

Qualifications – Essential

*

A degree or postgraduate qualification in engineering, science, business, economics or a related discipline

*

Chartered status in engineering or project management, or at least 15 years’ experience providing advisory services to infrastructure clients

*

At least one project management practitioner qualification or equivalent, e.g. Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®), PRINCE2®, Management of Risk (MoR®)

Skills & Experience

*

Significant experience of working in an infrastructure sector, including Rail, Highways, Utilities, etc.

*

Experience in providing technical / management advice including process improvement to organisations specifically in areas such as long term investment planning, decision support, information management, financial modelling, statistical analysis, and regulatory monitoring and reporting

*

Excellent communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills. Ability to communicate successfully across all levels of a client organisation

*

Pragmatic approach to problem solving and decision making.

*

Ability to deliver services with multi-disciplinary teams

*

Knowledge of the issues the infrastructure sector is facing in the UK

*

Flexible to travel and work from client offices

*

Knowledge and experience of working with standard forms of contracts used for professional services would be advantageous
