EY’s UK Financial Services Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) business is a rapidly growing team of technology, data and performance improvement professionals that help financial services organisations to redefine their tax operations and functions, driving transformation for the digital age.

The opportunity

We are expanding our data and analytics team within our UK Financial Services TTT business to reflect the growing demand for data analytics and data science capabilities across our tax services engagement portfolio. The role will focus on the application of data-driven technologies to solve complex business problems, developing solutions to enable our clients to better comply with existing and new tax obligations. In doing so you will be supporting the delivery of Tax engagements to some of the largest global institutions across the Financial Services industry (including many FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 organisations).

Your key responsibilities

Provide subject matter resource and advise on data-led technologies and their application to tax use cases

*
Design, develop and execute data driven tax solutions for EY clients, including overseeing solution build/implementation as required

*
Applying your knowledge and experience to support delivery across data aspects of key client projects

*
Support the team and build valuable relationships both within EY and with client stakeholders

*
Define, document and communicate architectural and code choices

*
Enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of identified solutions

*
Executing proof-of-concepts and pilots to evolve an idea into a successful prototype or solution

*
Develop tax subject matter knowledge through both formal training and working with senior mentors

Skills and attributes for success

*
Ability to use sophisticated algorithms such as Decision Trees, Deep Learning

*
Adept in using stats techniques such as linear regression modelling

*
Able to distil complex technical challenges to actionable and explainable decisions

*
Data visualisation tools and packages such as Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, Spotfire or similar

*
ETL tools and packages such as SSIS, Informatica, Alteryx or similar

*
Experience of designing, developing and implementing data management or data governance systems

*
Definition, assessment and improvement of data quality for large datasets

*
Functional knowledge of programming scripting and data science languages such as JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, Bash, SQL, .NET, Java, PHP, Ruby, PERL, C++, R or similar

*
Ability to use various cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, IBM Bluemix)

*
Ability to work using Agile Development Methodologies

*
Strong written and verbal communication skills

*
Self-starter and results orientated

*
Ability to coordinate project activities and collaborate with different teams including Resources in other locations, Tax subject matter resources and/or consultants from other practices across the organisation

*
Ability to provide excellent client service as well as manage and build strong relationships internally and externally

*
Project management skills, plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget

*
Team player; ability to work collaboratively and integrate with new inclusive teams quickly

*
Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to deliver quality output

To qualify for the role, you must have

*
A university degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.

*
Substantial previous experience working in a business or data analyst/engineer role, or in a data subject matter expert capacity (a previous role in a Financial Services organisation is a plus)

*
Strong development experience in relevant programming languages and technologies

*
Be a “builder” who can thrive in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment, and can plan and manage at both the strategic and tactical levels

Ideally, you will also have

*
Experience in similar role within an organisation comparable to EY (e.g. Big 4, global consultancy)

*
Strong interpersonal and people management skills
