The Weapons Engineer role is to develop bespoke modelling, simulation and data analysis software for evaluating weapon performance as well as exploiting existing models developed both internally and by customers.

Understanding overall weapon performance involves understanding the complex interactions between all of the key sub-systems and the role will involve undertaking studies which require domain knowledge in guidance, control, navigation and seekers.

It is expected that this Weapons Engineer role can be filled by an Associate Scientist with the opportunity to build domain knowledge working closely alongside the existing team. Applicants with more extensive weapons simulation domain knowledge would also be considered for a more senior appointment.

The team is located in Farnborough, with close links to radar modelling teams in Malvern.


You will be accountable to the Project Manager for delivering work against specific project codes to time, budget and standard.

As Weapons Engineer, you’ll be accountable to the Team Leader for performance, specifically meeting objectives and demonstrating positive behaviours in areas such as integrity, collaboration and business development.

The Weapons Engineer will also be accountable to the Head of Discipline with respect to accurate time-recording, non-project costs (i.e. overheads and investment activities) and safe working, including completion of mandatory annual training.


You need demonstrable experience working in closed-loop weapons modelling

You should have at least 2 years’ experience of Matlab, Simulink or C/C++

It would be desirable to have knowledge of seeker systems
