Description

A core Scala developer is required to join the Regulatory Reporting workstream for a Tier 1 investment bank supporting the Delta One Structured Products IT group. This is a global front-office team that supports the global OTC Equity Swap Portfolio, Single Name, and Index derivative businesses.

The candidate will be responsible for supporting and developing Regulatory Reporting systems in a capital markets environment, dealing with UK and US compliance regulations (e.g Dodd Frank reporting requirements). The role would suit candidates who have a strong foundation in Scala. You will be responsible for developing required intra-day and end of day reporting systems enhancements, liaising closely with the business users to elicit and document their requirements, producing release notes, providing support in the UAT testing stages, co-ordinating release signoff, providing bug fixes, and providing ongoing production support post-deployment.

This is an exciting hands-on role for a self-starter who has a thirst for new challenges as well as new technologies.

The candidate should possesses good business analytical skills, strong software engineering skills, a logical approach to problem solving, be able to work in a fast paced environment liaising with demanding stakeholders to understand complex requirements, and be able to prioritise work under pressure with minimal supervision.

The role requires someone who is flexible, able to respond to a dynamic business environment, and able to take ownership and responsibility for the delivery of key regulatory reporting deadlines. The candidate will be required to maintain excellent working relationships with internal clients such as Trading, Operations, Compliance, and Risk.

The candidate must be adaptable to work across multiple technologies and disciplines, with a focus on delivering quality solutions for the business in a timely fashion. You will work in a team of the best minds in the market on problems that interest many.

Qualifications

Skills Required:
- Core Scala experience in a corporate environment would be beneficial.

- Java, J2SE, Spring, Junit, JMS beneficial
- Understanding of message based architectures
- Unix/Linux scripting
- RDBMS Sybase and/or DB2, with a proficiency in writing SQL queries to extract information
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A genuine interest to learn the business supported by the applications

Skills Desired:
- Excel VBA
- Perl scripting
- Understanding of the recent Dodd Frank/regulatory reporting requirements
- Knowledge of the Equity Derivative business
- Knowledge of agile software development environments
