About the Department

SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.

What is the role?

We are seeking a well organised and self-motivated Sales Engineer to join our Operations Team in Kilkenny, Ireland. You will manage all stages of securing new works from creating opportunities, initial contact, proposal, sales to project handover. A key part of the role, will be managing sales by region and managing your client relationships to ensure AUS deliver a market leading service and obtain repeat business.

You will liaise with various clients, local authorities and non-local authorities within the assigned area to raise AUS's profile and to increase relationships. You will undertake and manage the sales and pre delivery stage of public lighting and general electrical projects to include on-site survey works for new schemes, assist with preparation of drawings, risk assessments, schedules and associated works.

Some key accountabilities will include:

- Providing Technical advice (Design, products, pricing)

- Supporting AUS product portfolio

- Managing Project Handovers to operations

- Following up on all tenders/Quotations issued and ensure that all outcomes are recorded

- Proactively contributing to the development of the commercial team, AUS product offerings, services and future strategy

- Ensuring bespoke contract negotiations on terms and conditions are concluded successfully

- Conducting presentations and selling company products and services to potential customers, either by mail, email, telephone or face to face

- Achieving sales objectives in line with overall business objectives.

- Providing feedback on market trends/ competitor activity relevant to AUS

- Following up on new leads and referrals

- Interfacing with other departments eg Pricing, Legal & Billing etc.

What do I need?

In order to be considered for this opportunity you'll have good working knowledge of some of the following: AutoCAD, Lighting Reality, cable calculation software and MS office packages.

You'll have an excellent understanding of the electrical sector and construction industry. With strong commercial awareness, you'll have the ability to deliver against sales targets, using your initiative and working independently.

You'll possess a trade and / or third level qualification relevant to the electrical contracting industry. Some experience within estimating and electrical projects would be advantageous. You'll have the ability to create, compose and edit written materials which are appropriate to the role and be able to read construction drawings.

As a highly skilled negotiator, you'll have excellent communication skills - both verbal and written. You'll also use your influence to achieve results.

The role requires travel to client sites therefore a valid driving licence is essential.

Additionally, a willingness to work flexibly is required as there will be occasional overnight travel.
