Job Description

Reporting and Analytics Analyst

Organisations that know how to capture and analyse data have a clear advantage when it comes to identifying new markets, understanding customers, managing profitability and managing performance. Our client understands the importance of data analytics and has contracted PA Consulting to build a performance management tool as part of the Monitoring and Reporting Service (MR Hub) for the £1.3bn Cross Government Prosperity Fund.

We are looking to hire an individual at the beginning of their career as a Reporting and Analytics Analyst to support this exciting piece of work during the early part of our contract to scope requirements and deliver a sustainable solution to the client. The role will involve building frameworks for reporting data, providing in-depth analysis or modelling data to provide insight, and support ad-hoc data requests.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary delivery team, you will be in direct contact with clients across several UK Government Departments. Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences are vital to this role.

There will be significant opportunity to scope out objectives in this start-up environment. However, at a minimum we would expect the candidate to:

 Work closely with the Reporting and Analytics teams to precisely define data requirements to enable you to analyse data and develop reporting dashboards for the MR Hub
 Understand MR Hub database systems and know how manipulate data and generate insight and information to meet requirements for ad-hoc requests from clients, managers, and staff
 Perform ad-hoc analysis that helps in understanding business and performance trends. Interpret the results and weave insightful stories to stakeholders
 Develop, maintain and run MR Hub Business Intelligence tool (Tableau) this includes, but is not limited to facilitating and creating client facing design of dashboards and reports
 Spot trends, interpret data, analyse results using analytical techniques and provide ongoing business intelligence support.

Key Targets include:
 Support the development of bespoke reports and dashboards using Tableau and other tools
 Support the development of a standard suite of reports using tableau
 Gather user reporting requirements and support its the implementation in the tool

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

 Keen interest in data analytics, with a desire to build related technical skills
 Curiosity, numeracy and a willingness to work hard in a fast moving environment
 Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to engage with a vast network of stakeholders
 Team player with flexible and adaptable approach to work, and a motivated self-starter
 Confident and credible, with aptitude in decisions making and problem solving
 Excellent organisational skills, with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
 Strives for success and exceeding targets and expectations

Experience & Qualifications

 A degree, Masters or PhD in analytical skills (for example Business Analytics, Science, Math, Engineering, Economics, Finance) or equivalent
 Hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards with Tableau is highly desirable for this position.
 Experience with SQL and Python programming languages would be desirable
 Experience of working in business intelligence and analytical projects in consulting or industry
 Some experience of conducting analysis for evidence-based decision making, developing models and decision support tools
