Job Title: Protection and Control Field Engineer
Location: Southern England
Salary: Up to £58,371 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance
Permanent | Full Time Hours
Within Operations, the Strategic Investment Group is a focused team that design and deliver a wide range of construction projects within the UK. The team specialises in the design and construction of electrical projects on its distribution networks ranging from 400V to 132kV.
As a Protection and Control Field Engineer you will be involved in the operation and support of the Protection and Control system at voltages from 400V to 132kV across the Southern Distribution Network. You'll support construction, maintenance, faults and defect rectification. You will also carry out network and protection grading studies to assist in new connections and network alterations.
Your Skills and Experience
To ensure you get the most from your role, and our customers receive the highest standard of service, we ask that you have the following to join us;
-Excellent leadership, organisational, diagnostic and problem-solving skills. You must have a good understanding of electricity distribution networks
-Qualification in Electrical Engineering to min. HNC level, or equivalent; alternatively, significant relevant experience may be considered
-Previous experience working in power system protection, working on high voltage protection relays & schemes, telecontrol systems, wiring and schematic diagrams.
-Knowledge of Embedded Generation protection and G59 Regulations
-Be familiar with Computer aided protection engineering software and experienced in utilising relay manufacturers software.
-Ideally you will already be a Authorised Person (AP) to 33kV. Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with maintenance/commissioning protection tests experience is favourably considered.
-An interest in long term development in order to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements
