AECOM’s UK Fiscal Incentives team is looking to recruit a consultant to join the Research & Development (R&D) team in London. The ideal candidate will have the desire to contribute to and develop the skills for successful project delivery and client management. Key responsibilities will be to deliver R&D claims and to help in developing AECOM’s Fiscal Incentives R&D service capability.
In addition to R&D, the Fiscal Incentives team delivers a range of niche property-related tax services, including capital allowances, land remediation relief and VAT consultancy.
You would be a key member of a growing team to help produce high-quality technical reports to support our in-house, as well as our clients’ R&D claims.
Identification of qualifying R&D projects and expenditure through participation in technical and financial discussions with both internal and external clients.
Technical assessment of projects in line with HMRC’s R&D tax relief guidelines and preparation of supporting technical documentation.
Ensure R&D claims meet the requirements of the relevant tax legislation and guidelines.
Preparation of high-quality R&D claims and corresponding financial calculations following liaison with both internal and external tax teams to ensure tax returns and computations correctly reflect the outcome of technical assessments.
Project management of claims (i.e. continuous liaison with clients, colleagues and key contacts at HMRC to ensure claims are optimised and deadlines are met).
Attend meetings, build and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, intermediaries and other networks to help develop further opportunities.
Develop own knowledge and skills to keep technical knowledge up to date.
Support R&D Tax Relief claims in the event of HMRC R&D enquiries.
Actively supervise and train junior R&D consultants as well as business development teams.
Contribute to the knowledge management of the Fiscal Incentives team.
Drive performance standards through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process with the team.
Manage the delivery of projects, ensuring effective use of resources to achieve optimal output quality.
Utilise in-house project management systems/protocols.
You must have some post qualification experience that will provide you with the skills and expertise to perform immediately in this role. Experience in our industry would be helpful but isn't essential.
You will ideally have a relevant finance or construction technical qualification but we will consider experience if these qualifications aren't available.
