Your Responsibilities

You will have commercial responsibility for multiple projects and will support the commercial team across a variety of specialist civil engineering and rail related infrastructure activities, on the LNE Framework / Region.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be required to supply relevant commercial information and reports to the Senior QS and Commercial Manager for review, such as; CVR’s, periodic valuations / applications and cash flow forecasting.

Other duties include:

• Develop client relationships by maintaining regular contact and meetings

• Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets

• Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements and ensure all contract correspondence is recorded

• Identify potential financial risk and evaluate options to mitigate

• Production, submission and agreement of final accounts in accordance with contractual requirements

• Liaise with the Supply Chain for the procurement, negotiation and placing of subcontract and supplier orders

• Oversee the procedures for certification of contract payments/variations and settling final accounts to sub-contractors in line with agreed terms and conditions

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will manage a commercial team providing advice, commercial information and reports to the commercial team, project staff and the Senior Commercial team.

To be successful in the role you will maintain and develop client relationships, be enthusiastic and able to manage a fast paced, high volume turnover of orders with high standards of project performance & customer satisfaction.

Desirable Skills

Skills as a Quantity Surveyor:

• Experience with Minor Works Framework – Essential

• 5 years’ experience with a rail / civils background – Essential

• Experience in working with the Client (Network Rail – desirable)

• Experience with producing Internal and external reporting

• Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised when necessary

• Demonstrate ability to work as a team

• ICE / JCT / CECA Contract awareness

• Experience with the NR Monitor and COINS system – Desirable

Skills as a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

• Experience with Minor Works Framework – Essential

• Over 5 years’ experience with a rail / civils background – Essential

• Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised

• Experience in working with the Client (Network Rail – desirable)

• Demonstrate ability to lead a small team and work as a team

• HND / HNC / Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying – Essential

• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying – Essential

• MS Office – Essential

• RICS / ICES – Desirable
