As a Mechanical Quality Engineer, you will undertake quality surveillance and inspection activities on behalf of the WSP Inspection Body.
Daily duties include the oversight of equipment during manufacture and refurbishment at manufacturing locations, construction and operational sites globally. The primary focus of the QSE is to ensure manufacturers and contract companies are operating compliantly to the project technical specifications and international codes and standards. As instructed by the Project Manager the QSE will undertake inspection assignments, ensuring accurate and efficient performance in the field and provide a detailed and concise report to summarise the inspection findings.
A typical week would include:
· Compliance with the requirements of WSP Quality and Inspection Services accredited management system · Inspection, progressing and expediting covering a wide range of equipment at manufacturing locations globally · Review and mark up of inspection and test plans. Read and interpret manufacturing programmes and technical specifications · Ensure assignment activities are performed in accordance with WSP setting to work procedures and specific client requirements · Interpret contractual requirements and adopt strict compliance during our inspection visits · Liaise with contractors and ensure that assignment requirements are understood · Report assignment activities in a timely manner and in line with QIS operating procedures · Record and report any circumstances which may result in deviations from contract requirements, incur additional time or expenditure on assignments · Review and negotiate improvements in contractor documentation

Expertise in at least one technical discipline with general all-round knowledge of two others from the categories listed below:
• Welding and Fabrication • NDT • Manufacture, or Inspection of Rotating Equipment • Pressure Equipment/Systems • Dimensional Control • Materials/Materials testing • Precision Machining Essential • Possess the ability to interpret acceptance criteria from international standards or bespoke technical specifications, ensuring manufacturers or OEM are applying them explicitly • Understands their responsibility as an independent inspection engineer • Excellent technical reporting skills • Well-presented and displaying the company values at all times Desirable • Experience in the following major equipment types: rotating plant, pressure equipment • Holds Audit qualifications, preferably, IRCA registered Lead Auditor course • A member of a recognised institution
