Job Description Summary
Works with stakeholders to advocate engineering and deliver business value through sound and fully rounded engineering methods and principles, ensuring platforms and software are built consistently with relevant patterns and practices. Supports the engineering community by providing deep domain and technical expertise and providing a voice to engineers to identify and support the resolution of issues. Ensures technical debt and releases are prioritised accordingly. Able to continually develop themselves with industry best practice methods and tooling used across their engineering teams.

This will create new, and improve existing, products and services to help us really make a difference to our customers.
Our Labs are co-located teams who work together on key projects to deliver value at pace by designing services that people find useful, easy and engaging to use. Typically, a Lab has a solid focus on complex problem solving in an agile environment where engineers are free to experiment and create innovative products which will transform the way our customers engage with us.
About the role:
Joining us as a Quality Engineer Lead, you'll play a key role for one of our Labs, helping us define our Automation First approach, ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards that our customers expect.
You’ll lead, coach & mentor our dedicated team, provide the leadership direction that will support our migration to cloud based solutions.
You’ll initiate & help develop fresh ideas to enable us to optimize the way in which we work and achieve run cost reductions through automation and a DevOps approach.
So what would you be doing for us?
•You'll play a key role in driving quality software solutions into production.
•You’ll help deliver the highest quality customer driven software possible, while challenging, motivating and mentoring a newly formed engineering team.
•You’ll build effective working relationships with other teams across IT, the Group and offshore partners with a focus on assisting the delivery of business value through sound software engineering methods and principles.
•You’ll have deep domain and technical expertise including a solid Automation background & understanding of infrastructure.
•You’ll be a hands-on Test Lead or SDET, with a deep understanding of DevOps practices.
•You’ll be a passionate advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers
What we need from you:
•You’ll lead the definition of Lab test process, driving the design and delivery of an automation Test framework around continuous integration using BDD (Behaviour Driven Development) methods.
•Focus on reducing risk and building confidence in the team and its stakeholders on the quality definition of the product.
•First class stakeholder management skills to advocate engineering and deliver business value through sound and fully rounded engineering methods and principles, ensuring platforms and software are built consistently with relevant patterns and practices.
•You’ll support the engineering community by providing deep domain and technical expertise and providing a voice to engineers to identify and support the resolution of issues.
•Agile working methods – sprint delivery, continuous integration, continuous delivery.
•An excellent communicator with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to your peers and business colleagues
•An ability to quickly and effectively understand and translate product and business requirements into technical solutions
