Salary: £16.54 - £18.23ph, depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance

Permanent: Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week

Our Role

We invest millions every year to make sure that our network is in the best condition possible to minimise the risk of power cuts and to ensure the safety of the public. During high winds and storms, trees can contact our equipment and cause power cuts, and so we cut them down or trim them back to keep the lights on. As well as installing the latest technologies and carrying out regular maintenance, we have our in-house and contract partner tree-cutting teams to make sure that trees and vegetation are kept away from our overhead lines and equipment.

Working as part of the Central Performance Team, you will lead a team of Quality & Safety Inspectors operating within the South-Central region. You will support, direct, manage and motivate the team working with you to deliver excellent service in respect of contractor quality and safety.

You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of your team and the contractors working in partnership with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), managing contractor safety and productivity and providing clear guidance and direction in challenging situations. Finally, you’ll work with the wider Commercial Performance Team to identify and mitigate any ongoing productivity or safety issues with contract partners. As the face of SSEN, you will build strong, effective relationships with our customers and contract partners to drive safety, value and productivity in all areas.

Your Skills and Experience
•Knowledge of Arboriculture/Utility Arboriculture, possessing a wide range of NPTC/UA qualifications, a level 3 qualification in arboriculture is desirable but not essential.
•Experience of managing teams and co-ordinating the work of others.
•Strong track record in managing safety performance and improving safety culture across multi-functional teams
•The ability to prioritise workload and balance demands from numerous sources to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met.
•Operational delivery knowledge and experience, specifically contractor association and/or network management.
•Must have a track record of delivering strong performance and meeting delivery timescales.
•Well organised, with excellent planning skills
•Valid UK drivers licence and willingness to work flexibly to cover customer requirements and travel, as required, across the South
