What is the Role?
We are currently looking for a Team Manager to lead the local pool of Project Managers based predominantly in Reading, as well as providing on technical / delivery expertise to projects, financial management, reporting and customer service.
Within this role you will hold responsibility for all projects within your regional area, in accordance with company procedures, industry regulations and best practice Project Management methodologies. The role holder shall be responsible for the line management and development of the local resource pool of Project Managers, ensuring all projects are equally supported. As a key member of the Delivery Management team, the role holder shall also provide support and guidance to Project Managers in other areas of the business by way of playing a full and active role in the wider delivery management team.
The Projects Team Manager shall aid their team of Project Managers in achieving the designated success criteria around time, quality and cost in relation to their projects or programme workstreams. Comfortable operating at C-Level within SSE Group and customer accounts, the Projects Team Manager shall play a key role in making recommendations to management for continuous improvement objectives / initiatives, operate as a wider business person – being prepared to manage and challenge senior stakeholders where required, and be a model for integrity and provide positive promotion of the PM team both within our group and around the wider business.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role you must understand CDM requirements and all relevant legislation. You will have knowledge of Fibre optics and different optical technologies, with an understanding of the theory and principles of Fibre technology.
You will have a relevant project management qualification or experience of managing large complex projects and have experience of writing tenders and tender responses to win business.
Primarily this is a Team Manager role and people management experience and the ability to mentor and develop Project Managers is essential.
