Thales UK is looking to recruit a Project Planner to join our world leading Optronics Team based in Green Park, Reading, Berkshire.

Working in an incremental role as part of the wider Bid and Project Management team, as Project Planner you will assist in the management, integration and control of the project integrated schedule within the Thales Programme Management Tool Set (Primavera). Dedicated to either a large programme or multiple smaller programmes, you will gain excellent exposure and experience, collaborating with teams based in Glasgow, Strathclyde as well as across the UK. This role will require professional project planning/project control capabilities to be applied – giving rigour to change control and engaging with all levels of the business across multi-disciplined functions.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

* Assist in the maintenance, development & communication of the integrated Programme plan in Primavera including all contract deliverable milestones, internal milestones, invoicing and sales milestones in accordance with the Thales Procedures.
* Monitor the integrated set of project schedules, costs, and resources in accordance with the company timetable, procedures and working practices and cost structure & WBS.

* Undertake and coordinate the formal update of all Primavera project schedules, interdependencies, resource allocations budgets and financial status.
* Assist in the generation of the overall critical path across the integrated set of projects and reconcile issues, making recommendations to assist in the recovery of overall programme slip, where applicable.
* Analyse resource profiles resulting from the monthly schedule update process and make recommendations to reconcile resource loading anomalies ahead of the Forward Load extraction.
* Support all baseline and change control activities associated with the Primavera schedules including regular local archiving of the overall Primavera database.

Skills & Experience:

Thales is committed to hiring individuals with a “can do” and positive attitude with willingness to learn and improve on skills and knowledge. We are looking for an individual with skills in structured planning techniques with an ambition and aptitude to learn in a Project Planning role. In addition we are looking for the following skills and attributes in our next Project Planner:

* Customer focused balance with recognising the need for governance
* Ability to establish and meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise
* Practical experience of structured planning ideally within a complex, diverse organisation
* Commercial and business acumen
* Excellent communicator – both verbal and written
* Experience using a Programme Management tool i.e. Primavera would be advantageous
* Experience of progress reporting and KPI production

This role will require SC Clearance. If not currently held it is expected that the post holder will undergo SC Clearance, please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.
