We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our team in York developing and delivering Rail Enhancement Projects.

Your mission

As Project Manager, you will be an integral part of the team throughout the project lifecycle. During construction you will be responsible for leading overall delivery or for the delivery of a significant element of the project.

Your key activities will include:

* Communicate effectively and professionally with everyone associated with the project and the wider community and maintain a good working relationship with the client, his / her project management and supervisory team and the supply chain.
* Work closely with the Contractors Engineering Manager and Design Manager to provide constructability support and develop construction methodologies through the Approval in Principle and detailed design stages of the project.
* Set a personal example in health safety and environmental matters through strong, visible leadership (including safety tours). Acting as a champion for all company and sub-contractor employees. Actively supporting HSQE initiatives, both on the project and across business.
* Ensure all necessary preparation and planning is undertaken to deliver the construction element of the works and ensure site-based appointments are made utilising suitably trained and experienced staff.
* Drive quality delivery through effective planning and right first-time delivery whilst adopting, maintaining and promoting cost-conscious management through efficient use of all resources.
* Input into the preparation of realistic programmes, monitoring and reviewing according to the requirements of the project and contract.

Who are we looking for?

Your qualifications and experience should include:

* HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience working as PM or Senior Agent for a Civil Engineering Contractor.
* Must be able to demonstrate leadership and management capabilities commensurate with such a role.
* Experience of working in construction project development and delivery
* Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level is desirable.
* Knowledge of/experience in Alliancing is desirable.
