Salary: £38,265 - £56,671 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance

Our Role

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Cable Project Manager to join our Strategic Investment team, this role will be predominantly site based however the base location will be our office is in our prestigious new premises in Reading, One Forbury Place, conveniently located in Reading town centre. This new location offers new flexibility in the way we work, with this in mind, the role can be carried out splitting time between the project site, office and either your home or another SSEN location.

As a Project manager in the cable team, you will be responsible for the management of capital projects from design handover until completion. We currently deliver up to 15 cable projects each year, ranging from 1kM to 30kM, this would be an exciting opportunity to be involved in delivering these projects including the civil, electrical environmental and consenting elements, including construction management of the installation and labour contractors and co-ordination between the various work activities.

Your Skills and Experience

You will have previous experience managing 33/132kV cable projects through the construction phase, a contracting background working on large schemes would be beneficial. This should include the control of contractors and of CDM regulations A minimum HNC in a relevant subject is preferred, in addition to experience in this field working for or with an electrical DNO or equivalent.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital and you will be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external. Previous experience in applying the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 to large projects, and fulfil client and Principal Designer duties would be advantageous. You will be required to manage the contract management, Quality Assurance and Quantity surveying contract and tender management; therefore, the ability to thrive under pressure is essential.
