Project Manager – Oil & Gas

Bacton, Norfolk

This role exists to provide functional leadership for all design & construction phase activities within the Project Teams promoting Health, Safety, and Environmental and construction best practice as well as coordinating construction resources across the projects in close liaison with the Project Managers.

Murphy are currently working on a large project for National Grid at one of their key gas intake terminals – Bacton, Norfolk. We require a project manager who will take full ownership of the project and bring together all of the functions to create and maintain a high performing team. The client, National Grid, are a key client of Murphy and the works location is in a COMAH facility, therefore the candidate needs to have sufficient skills and experience to work to the high standards required. Opportunity for this scope to increase in terms of value and duration should we deliver to the clients high expectations.

Key responsibilities:

* Management of a major project (over £30m) for design & build contracts and build only contracts

* Ensure compliance with client SHESQ requirements and relevant industry legislation / regulations

* Keep off-site line management apprised of potential problems and future work opportunities

* Keep abreast of developments in professional field

* Overall management of project teams during all phases of the project

* Co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase

* Co-ordination and allocation of construction staff to projects ensuring that appropriate staff are appointed to individual projects: based on experience, skills and knowledge

* Liaises with the site team to ensure that the resource pool is an appropriate size, with an appropriate blend of skill-sets, for the projected workload

* Ensure that the project is measuring the performance of and management of subcontractors

What we’d hope you can demonstrate:

* Successful experience as a Contract / Project Manager

* Experience working with National Grid Gas

* Experience of Planning / Estimating in large projects

* Proven track record in large scale civil and mechanical projects

* Degree qualified with engineering or commercial as preference

* Proven ability to lead teams and coach on performance

* Knowledge of industry standards including safety and environment related issues

* Experience working in the oil and gas market

* IT Literate
