Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Project Manager at Senior Consultant grade to join our Project Management team in London based in Canary Wharf. The successful candidate will manage numerous projects within the Waste Management industry.

Key Responsibilities

General Project Management activities:

* Define and prepare project scope and budget, project schedule, securing increased budgets when required, project cost tracking
* Organize and coordinate meetings with key stakeholders including the clients, end users, contractors, engineering, and plant personnel
* Develop engineering and construction scope of work for bids
* Managing and working with client’s PMO team and other technical advisors
* Contribute to weekly reporting when required (inc. reviewing programme and collation of information)
* Manage Deliverables tracker and support issue of deliverables
* Assist in programme reviews when required
* Liaise with aspect leads on resourcing requirements
* Confidently communicate and influence clients, stakeholders and colleagues

Commercial Management activities:

* Supporting development of compensation event scope definition, assessing budget and programme
* Review of monthly spend band evaluating against earned value and programme
* Identification of new resource requirements
* Assist in financial review (Spend, FOC, Target, outstanding CEs)
* Assist with bid management and other team development activities as required

Risk Management activities:

* Identify and contribute to risk register reviews and updates.

Skills / Qualifications

Skills / Experience
Essential:

* Significant experience in project management or project engineering, preferably in the Waste Management Industry
* Software skills: Microsoft Office, Familiarisation with CDE systems
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
* Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, construction documents, correspondence and memos
* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
* Proven track record in the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects from initiation to completion
* Identification and monitoring of project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing responses to them and responding to other issues that affect projects
* Contract management experience particularly in the administration of professional services and engineering & construction contracts (NEC 3/4)
* Experience in developing, maintaining and applying quality management processes for project activities and outputs.
* Dedicated team player and hard worker.

Desirable:

* Experience of working in the Waste Management Industry and/or with Local Authorities
* Knowledge of value management and value engineering techniques
* Knowledge of the application of quality management systems to projects
* Knowledge of the application of HSSE and CDM requirements to projects
* Experience of contract administration using NEC3/4 suite of contracts.

Qualifications
Essential:

* Degree level or equivalent in an engineering, building, architecture, quantity surveying, science or business discipline

Desirable:

* Post graduate qualification appropriate to infrastructure project management
* Project Management qualification, for example PMP, PRINCE2, APM PMQ (APMP) or RPP
* Membership of professional body, for example Association for Project Management (APM) or Project Management Institute (PMI).
