About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Rail team to work in Raynesway, Derby.

Role purpose

Ensures that products and projects are engineered to meet customer requirements and in accordance with the product strategy and Engineering Process.

What you'll be doing

As a Project Engineer, your main responsibilities are as follows:

* Provides a link between Project Management and Engineering;
* Takes day-to-day engineering decisions on behalf of the Project Manager;
* Provides Engineering guidance to the Project Manager;
* Ensures that the engineering disciplines (e.g. Software, Mechanical) are connected;
* Proactive in getting things done. Contributes to the doing wherever needed;
* Customer and supplier focused and facing;
* Ensures that the Engineering Process is adhered to and upheld throughout;
* Ensures that the outcomes of projects are consistent to project and product requirements.

Who we're looking for

The following qualities and experience are essential:

* Relevant engineering and technology background;
* Good knowledge of engineering processes and methodology;
* Good appreciation for all or some of the following:
* Software Engineering
* Electronic Engineering
* Data Science
* Mechanical Engineering

* Makes the right decisions for OBB and the product(s);
* High levels of energy, passion and a can do attitude;
* Good communicator at all levels;
* Good at writing technical documentation;
* Able to build solid relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.

The following qualities and experience are desirable:

* Good knowledge of OBB product offerings and their customers;
* An appreciation of Project Management process;
* An understanding of delivering technology products and projects within the Rail industry.
