Job SpecificationIn these unprecedented times, it's never been more important to keep up the supply of safe, high-quality drinking water to households and communities up and down the UK.
At Affinity Water we're recruiting heavily into our Production & Supply team to ensure we continue to deliver a great service to our 3.6 million customers everyday, and keep the water flowing. Could you be part of the journey?
Your next role
As a Production Technician, you'll be based out of Affinity Water's production sites completing electrical, mechanical and instrumental maintenance and repairs at Water Treatment Works, pumping stations and storage sites. Day to day, you'll conduct a maintenance routine schedule, plus work collaboratively with your team to manage the treatment sites, ensuring these are operating reliably and efficiently.
Travelling from place to place couldn't be easier as you'll be given a brand-new company van to drive to and from sites according to your schedule. You must have a full UK driving licence.
How you'll make a difference
Working at the heart of the Production & Supply team, you'll play your part in delivering safe, clean drinking water to your local communities. You'll recognise the value of the work you do and you'll take pride in being on the front line of water delivery, ensuring customers receive the very best when they turn on the tap.
What do you need?
As you'll be working with electrical and mechanical plant and equipment, you'll hold a recognised electrical/mechanical apprenticeship or qualification at HNC level minimum. If you are 17th or 18th edition qualified in electrical installation, even better.
Don’t worry if you don’t have water sector experience – manufacturing, engineering, brewery, FMCG or utilities backgrounds offer great transferable skills. What’s important is that you have demonstratable experience of working on this kind of equipment in a similar process-driven environment. You’ll have an engineering mindset with the ability to apply your electrical and/or mechanical expertise to identify and resolve faults.
As the service you'll provide is essential to the customer, you'll also be comfortable participating in a standby rota to ensure someone's always on call if there's an operational issue. It's all part of your outstanding service.
What's in it for me?
The work you'll do is essential for Affinity Water to deliver safe, clean drinking water to over 3.6 million customers every day. In return, you'll be entitled to a host of benefits including a double-matching SMART pension, on-the-job training and opportunities to undertake further education, career progression, company vehicle, and a holiday allowance that increases with length of service. So the longer you stay, the more you gain.
