Purpose of the Job

This Production Engineer New Products role will be responsible for the delivery of the First Batch of New Products from receipt of Project or Engineering requirements documentation through to Customer Factory Acceptance Testing and the subsequent handover to internal or external Series / Standard Production Engineering Teams
The role will support the Lead Production Engineer New Products to promote product standardisation of Wayside and Onboard products and equipment enclosures, for safety critical systems
The role will be responsible for engineering the complete process from reviewing Project or Engineering Technical Hardware Specifications, in order to agree a concept with the Customer, identify and embody material / component standardisation, identify key / special processes, create the manufacturing engineering and production documentation to support the bidding, productionisation, material procurement, manufacture, testing, First Article Inspections (FAI) and Factory Acceptance Testing of New Products
Your responsibilities will include:

* Reviewing Project or Engineering Technical Hardware Requirements (Concepts or Specifications) in order to develop standardised manufacturing concepts for bidding and manufacture
* Provide bid documentation (manufacturing concept, List of Materials, engineering costs, manufacturing costs) for Sales to provide formal quotation
* Creation of Manufacturing Drawings and Documentation in company CAD (e.g. Solidworks, Microstation) & PLM Systems (e.g. Hydra) for use by internal and external manufacturing sites to meet product technical requirements, project time, cost and quality requirements
* Population of ERP Systems (e.g. SAP) with material and manufacturing data to enable material procurement and manufacturing planning
* Productionisation of manufacturing cell and test equipment for first batch of New Products
* Support to Production during manufacture, testing, First Article Inspection and Customer Factory Acceptance Testing
Key requirements:

* HNC/HND/Degree in electrical / electronic engineering discipline
* Preference will be given to candidates with experience of production engineering of similar safety critical products and / or with experience of standardisation, developing concepts with project / engineering, delivery of new products
* Preference will be given to candidates with experience of CAD packages e.g. Microstation, SolidWorks and/or equivalent or with the aptitude and capability to learn. Experience of managing small projects. Experience of electrical / mechanical systems design
* Experience of safety critical systems for rail and / or transportation industries or closely similar
