Cirrus Logic’s Product Strategy team are looking for a talented Systems/Applications Engineer to help drive the next generation of technologies and products to serve new business opportunities. A hands-on role, ideally suited to a candidate with a broad ranging bench-based technical skillset that cuts across hardware and software domains - ideally with a background in low power portable device applications, but more importantly, a strong passion for learning and a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

* Detailed product teardowns and competitor analysis - reverse engineering products of interest to determine sub-system and IC functions, characterization of key functions, behaviors and algorithm aspects of products to accelerate understanding
* Design, development and realization of experiments to facilitate the above and qualify understandin
* Development of rapid test and prototyping platforms, reference designs and demonstration vehicles to showcase Cirrus value, both internally and to end customers
* Reverse engineering products of interest - identifying areas of interest, selecting appropriate analytical techniques and evaluating result
* Compose and perform innovative test experiments to determine system and IC performance
* Work closely with subject matter experts in Strategy, Systems, Design, and Marketing to analyze results and determine relevance to internal developments
* Deliver comprehensive assessments of product sub-systems and components, including diagrams for system connectivity and circuit schematics where possible
* Assess product architectures and provide reasoning for design choice
* Provide material lists, including estimated passive component and IC costs/pricin
* Provide HW/FW/SW interaction analysis, algorithm functional analysis, and protocol analysi
* Develop equipment and techniques for the analysis of new devices and technologies; perform experimental research to find and define solutions
* Engage external data sources/services/contractors or outsource functions as required
* Communicate ideas and specifications to technical audiences, through reports and presentations
* Autonomously manage task list and competing priorities
* Drive development of hardware & software platforms for internal and customer demonstration

Required Skills and Qualifications

* BS Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in engineering low power portable devices; with lab experience in system and device-level functional testing
* Strong analytical problem-solving skills and optimistic attitude to addressing challenges
* Good written and verbal communication skills - able to translate complex problems/issues into a simple to understand form, and able to succinctly compile and compose written reports
* Task and detailed oriented, very organized
* Dynamic and able to learn quickly, self-starter, and unafraid to ask question

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

* Familiarity of semiconductor device physics
* Familiarity with closed loop control & adaptive algorithms
* PCB design / layout skills.
* Matlab/Simulink and Python script development familiarity/experience
* FPGA programming and Microcontroller familiarity/experience
