Product Safety Engineers:

Would you like to play a key role in Product Safety
for our Submarine Programmes? We currently have vacancies for Engineers, Senior
Engineers and Principal Engineers with our Product Safety teams and within the
Engineering Product Assurance Department (EPAD), at our site in
Barrow-In-Furness.

Within Product Safety, you will be supporting the
Engineering Delivery Organisations in all facets of Product Safety engineering,
throughout all stages of Life Cycle Management.
Depending on your role or department you will be responsible for
production of safety documentation, carrying out safety analysis and/or
providing the Engineering Delivery Manager (Safety & Environment) with
technical data/advice or Assurance relevant to Structural, Mechanical, Electrical
and C&I engineering systems, equipment, procedures and standards in support
of the Whole Boat Safety Cases.

These roles will provide you with the opportunity
to be involved in all aspects of safety management, safety case production and
delivery of Product Assurance objectives. This includes safety
requirements capture and management, hazard identification and analysis, hazard
data management, application of ALARP principle, creation/maintenance of safety
documentation and continuous improvement of the safety management system. These roles as detailed below will
provide you with a real opportunity to gain a broad overview of a complex
system.

Engineer:

Your main responsibilities as an Engineer
(Programme):

The
following activities are those that may be carried out (but not limited to) in full or part dependent on the role:-

Production of Safety documentation, as
delegated by line management, in accordance with relevant project and
programme plans, under direct supervision;

Assist line management in undertaking
project Safety analysis to help plan work efficiently, provide project status
and identify risks and mitigation features;

Under direct supervision, provide
advice and information to departments, organisations and/or stakeholders on
issues related to the Safety Justification;

Essential
criteria for this role:

Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM)
Degree or equivalent qualification and/or experience within an Engineering
background;

Your main responsibilities as an Engineer
(Assurance):

The
following activities are those that may be carried out (but not limited to) in full or part dependent on the role:-

To work within EPAD, providing Product
Safety management, design and analysis advice in support of business objectives
and products and services programmes;

Reporting directly to the Engineering
Manager Product Safety Assurance;

To advise and recommend to the
Engineering Manager Product Safety Assurance on the appropriate Product Safety
technical design and business matters;

Delivery of corporate and business
Product Safety objectives within the EPAD and advice to other business
functions in the delivery of their corporate and business Product Safety
objectives. This is in the context of the four principles of Product Safety –

Senior Engineer:

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer
(Programme):

The following activities are typical (but not
limited to) of work that may be carried out with appropriate support, in full
or part dependent on the role:-

Under limited supervision, undertake
Product Safety functional design analysis and/or provide specialist Safety
advice of their scope of responsibility and provide evidence for acceptance and
fitness for purpose of structure, systems and component and Whole Boat designs;

To confirm beyond reasonable doubt by
review, surveillance and audit that those assumptions, underpinning
engineering data, analysis methodologies, and interpretation of results have
been validated in support of the Product Safety cases and activities.

Essential

Demonstrable ability, experience and/or
understanding in at

(Programme):

The following activities are those that may be
carried out (but not limited to) in full or part dependant on the role:-

To undertake Product Safety functional
design analysis and/or provide specialist Safety advice of their scope of
responsibility and provide evidence for acceptance and fitness for purpose of
structure, systems and component and Whole Boat designs;

To confirm beyond reasonable doubt by
review, surveillance and audit, that those assumptions underpinning engineering
data, analysis methodologies, and interpretation of results have been validated
in support of the Product Safety cases and activity;

To contribute to identification and
rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and to

To liaise with both internal and
external customers as required ensuring that their Product Safety requirements
are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and
incorporated where appropriate and agreed;

To undertake peer reviews or
checking/verification tasks as directed.

Provide assurance to the Design
Authority as to the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting
documentation;

To provide support to the Certificate
of Design activities appropriate to the discipline and from a Product Safety
perspective.
