To support this we are building our Bank of the Future, entering a period of huge transformation across the organisation where we are seeking skills not currently in the group and will be operating in ways unfamiliar to our businesses, centred around an inclusive culture that touches every single colleague.

This vacancy sits within our Finance Value Stream, specifically the Engineering team. Our products are data driven and consumed across the group to support our financial reporting at group level. Whilst this role is not customer facing it is crucial in supporting our group wide operation in the face of ever changing regulations.

About the Role

We would like you to use your knowledge and experience to own and set the strategic direction for how we implement fit for purpose architecture to meet the needs of GCT including the long-term products roadmap and strategy, practices, policies, operating model, infrastructure strategy, tools, coding standards, quality controls etc.

You will build effective relationships with our stakeholders, customers and delivery partners to improve the overall service provided while managing delivery objectives. Ensuring that collaboratively we deliver the end product to meet our customer needs whilst measuring quality against delivery timeliness.

Key Accountabilities

You will ensure that software is built in a way which is consistent with - and exploits where possible - the collective frameworks, patterns and best practices that exist across the wider Engineering community within GFS alongside working with business owners and stakeholders. Taking, implementing and developing best practise from your own experience and from the wider Bank and industry will be actively encouraged

You will be expected to own and drive ongoing delivery improvement plans being proud to make positive change embracing DevOps and Rapid Release initiatives by delivering quality to our customers faster. Together we will make and drive changes and make a real difference to customers inside and outside of the Bank.

Lead the rest of the team including coaching, mentoring and grow more junior colleagues.

Essential Skills

1. Must have proven experience of project deliveries in different capacities in a financial industry in both waterfall and agile methodologies.

2. Must have experience and understand Corporate Treasury within Banking.

3. Proven software development experience in Java/J2EE or similar language.

4. A broad grasp of technologies to include Webservices, SAAS Cloud Deployments, Agile tools (including Jira/Confluence/GIThub), end-user visualisation tools, analytical reporting, Database development.

5. Keeps abreast with latest industry developments and application to financial industry including Machine Learning / In-Memory analytics / Blockchain.

6. Microsoft Certified professional understanding SQL technologies including SSRS and SSIS as well as strong SQL scripting knowledge.

7. Working Experience of Windows Based Development, including understanding of Phython/Java/VBA Coding and GIT/Gerrit/Jenkins/Urbancode/Confluence

Additional information

The role is based in London though some travel to other UK sites may be required.

The package for this role includes:

• Base Salary of £62,00-£65,000

• Flex Benefits amounting to 4% of Base Salary

• Car Allowance of £4,080

• Pension Contribution of between 8-13% (based on colleague contribution)
