The purpose of the Commercial function in British Gas is to define and execute the revenue and commercial strategies for the organisation in order to grow gross margin through delivering energy, services and solutions with excellent experiences for our customers. The Commercial function is split into two complimentary portfolios: Energy and Services & Solutions

The Services & Solutions portfolio is focussed on building premium Home Services and Solutions that satisfies customer needs for help, protection and assurance, repositions BG for the energy transition, grows margins and re-establishes BG as the most successful supplier in the UK.

The Energy Management & EV portfolio is a critical growth area for British Gas, we are building on our existing IoT infrastructure to deliver end to end solutions which meet customer needs. This is an ever evolving environment, especially with rapidly changing sets of products such as EV chargers, Heat Pumps, Home Batteries being developed by third parties, we want to be at the heart of this ecosystem, owning the end to end customer experience and integrating the best devices from key partners.

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to join the Hive, Smart Monitoring and Control Solutions team to deliver ground-breaking Energy Management (EM) & Electric Vehicle (EV) solutions for our customers.

Accountabilities

*

As part of the Hive, Smart Monitoring and Control product team you will lead the development of British Gas EM & EV solutions.

*

Work closely with EM & EV proposition leads to comprehend the customers’ needs and allow a suitable user-driven solution to be developed.

*

Appreciate and advise on the products and technologies needed by the Energy Management portfolio leads to delivery innovative solutions.

*

Review competitor solutions and work with colleagues to assess potential partnerships or competitive threats.

*

Prepare detailed requirements of the desired customer experience for designers, hardware engineers, and software developers.

*

Working with the BG technical team to complete the front end (Hive App) and back-end development to integrate partner products onto our platform.

*

Responsible for ensuring items like packaging, user guides are developed on time and to quality.

*

Forge close working relationships with marketing and sales teams to help them appreciate key features of our newly developed solutions.

*

Ensure that our support teams know how our chosen portfolio of partner products work so that they can assist when needed.

*

Regularly review technical performance of our solutions and put in place a product roadmap to meet the ever-evolving customer needs in this space

*

Mange and resolve in-life issues of live products and solutions and be the main point of contact for device partners into the organisation.

*

Work closely with procurement and supply chain to ensure we have the right stock levels to meet our demand.

*

Manage product portfolio to maximise value across the current and potential BG customer base, deliver against business plan targets ensuring propositions maximise gross margin.

Skills & Experience

*

Significant demonstrable experience in the Electric Vehicles and Home Energy Management solutions and product management space.

*

Strong technical background and solid knowledge of both hardware and software development processes.

*

Knowledge of working in Lean start-up or similar, and familiarity with an agile and lean development environment.

*

Commercial comprehension, application and decision-making

*

Collaboration, working across multiple teams with shared objectives to deliver benefits for BG & customers

*

Strong customer centricity, and ability to identify the building blocks needed to provide our customers with an excellent experience.

*

Confident orator and persuasive when engaging with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, including director level management.

*

Strong sense of ownership and personal responsibility for ensuring the delivery of an exceptional product.

*

A committed and dynamic team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to bring out the best in a varied and international team.

*

Great organisational skills and the ability to deliver within tight deadlines.
