Product Director - Retail

The OVO Group’s purpose is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach Plan Zero, we need everyone to come together - not just as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. As part of this ambitious plan, our goal is to become the ‘Leading Employer in the UK’ by 2030. If you think you could be the talent we’re looking for, then come and join the adventure!

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

OVO Retail is the customer facing part of our business. We are building a world class set of digital products and capabilities that power our retail energy brands including OVO Energy, SSE, Boost, Spark and others. Our world will cover everything from energy usage, to the installation of new energy saving technology in the home, to leasing customers an EV.

Technology is at the heart of making the customer experience perfect. At OVO we’re looking for a Product Director to run our Shared Services domains.

You will build the core capabilities that power everything in a modern retail technology stack. You will be responsible for the platforms that runs our Contact Centres, Field Force, Payments and Collections, Marketing Automation and Data Products.

What will I be doing?

We are looking for a Product Director to lead the product strategy and execution within the Shared Services function of OVO Retail. You will form part of the Product function leadership team, and will be instrumental in building a world class function. We expect the following from you:

* Own and define the product strategy for each of your domain areas, parenting with the appropriate Engineering, Design and UX/UR colleagues
* Ensure strong customer outcomes can be achieved through your products
* Manage, coach and mentor Product Managers across OVO Retail to build a high-performing team
* Define ambitious, data-informed quarterly OKRs in concert with your teams
* Embed and optimise product development practices; and lead, grow and level-up the Product function at OVO
* Drive a culture of hypothesis driven, data led product development
* Manage teams and individual performance
* Build deep domain expertise across your product areas

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you will have:

* Deep experience defining product led business strategies across wide domains, ideally with exposure to large scale operational or e-commerce environments
* A track record of executing strategy, through an outcome focused and data level roadmap. And ability to drive momentum through a hypothesis and experiment led approach
* Exposure to driving the end to end product lifecycle, from ideation and launch, to continual improvements and obsolescence management
* A customer centric mindset, with deep understanding of using customer research to shape and define problems
* Comfort with a rapidly changing environment; with ability to maintain an agile mindset towards value delivery and overall strategic direction
* Ability to influence and inform C-suite and Board level stakeholders
* Quantitatively minded and experienced in data analytics, and using data to drive direction and focus
* A strong perspective on Product Management as a “function”, and able to set and evolve internal methodologies
* Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor colleagues and teams

From us you’ll get* (add/delete as appropriate for the role/brand)

* An annual discretionary bonus
* 4% of your salary to spend on flexible lifestyle benefits
* 5% matched employer contribution to your pension
* 25 days holiday + 1 for your birthday
* And many more...

(*) Please note that certain benefits kick-in once you have passed probation which can be up to 6 months after your start date.

We want the best people

At OVO, we empower our people to have choice around where and when they work - flexible working arrangements can be discussed for all of our roles. Please speak to the Talent Acquisition team for more info.
