Vacancy: Procurement Senior Buyer – Initial 12 Month FTC - PAYE

Job Family: Supply and Logistics
Role: Senior Procurement professional ensuring delivery of all Procurement targets; responsible for site specific procurement and local implementation of Group-led and SBU-led spend categories on a large/complex site (including capital and operational expenditure) and manages supplier performance. Undertakes activities to ensure the efficient and effective strategic procurement of defined portfolio, which may include responsibility for a category specific to the Plant.
Deputises for SBU Plant Procurement Manager on those sites where Plant Procurement Manager is also SBU Plant Procurement Lead fulfilling span-breaking leadership across SBU/region. Enables SBU Plant Procurement Manager be effective in role and enables SBU Procurement Director to effectively partner with the Sector executive committee in all day-to-day procurement activities that impact the SBU P&L. Ensures Plant activities are in accordance with Procurement Excellence strategy, goals and Group Procurement Policy/Standards. Enables Group Chief Procurement Officer to effectively deliver Procurement Excellence strategy and goals at Plant.
Key responsibilities
* Act in accordance with JM values and bring to life the One Procurement Community (OPC) to enable JM’s Procurement Excellence strategy.
* Lead effective business partnership for Plant for the development and improvement of defined categories in line with business requirements, optimising security of supply, commercial agility, drives responsibly sourced sustainable value, which contributes to business profitability and cash flow.
* Works to identify, develop and implement improved supply-side initiatives
* Conducts research on potential suppliers and vendors, promotions and other industry trends as a source of accurate and up-to-date information to compliment Group insights for procurement activities.
* Negotiates and develops formal supply agreements for defined Plant categories of spend. Ensures compliance.
* Provides monthly/quarterly updates. Provide information and impact assessments to Group Procurement.
* Manages and develops supplier relationships and builds a comprehensive understanding of extended supply chains (ideally back to source and applicable waste streams), and general industry market intelligence.
* Executing the outcome of category strategies and sourcing action plans to effective implementation. Defining and support the team to successfully deliver the plan and realise intended value at Plant.
* Secure Plant stakeholder commitment.
* Lead implementation and compliance to policies, procedures and controls.
* Supports business improvement initiatives to ensure that the strategic goals are met.
* Supports relevant internal and external (e.g. ISO) compliance and registration audits.
* Supports Plant Procurement Manager to ensure full compliance with applicable JM/SBU legislative, regulatory, audit, EHS and Group Procurement ethical standards, policies, procedures and processes. Including Supplier Due Diligence and Supplier Code of Conduct.
* Ensures collection and analysis of key cost drivers, market dynamics, short- and longer-term security of supply and issues, areas for innovation and alternative suppliers.
* Secures critical EHS, regulatory, REACH and other fiscal data on suppliers and ensure data captured in relevant databases.
* Analyses and evaluates the businesses overall procurement trends. Negotiates and develops favourable Plant supply agreements and contracts.
Are you the ideal candidate?
You will have:
* CAPEX buying / procurement experience
* Experience successfully leading and conducting the negotiation of contracts across technical, commercial and legal areas.
* Effective interpersonal skills
* Ability to facilitate several activities at any one time, prioritise workload and effectively communicate
* Vocational education with significant experience, or a university qualification (with a business, technical, scientific focus) with vast experience, preferably in Automotive, FMCG and/or Chemical procurement.
* Good functional Procurement experience managing direct and indirect categories
* Ability to operate effectively in different cultures and across geographies
* Experience successfully leading and conducting the negotiation of contracts across technical, commercial and legal areas.
* Ability to balance total cost of ownership (TCO), strategic and tactical delivery.
* For materials, Value Analysis and Value Engineering to identify and drive benefit opportunities.
* Proven consistent delivery of outstanding results.
