Procurement Manager

The Opportunity

This Procurement Manager role has been created in line with our growth plans to join our Operation Assets Team.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Supply Chain, the successful candidate will provide procurement governance and oversight to the asset operations team and ensure associated activities are performed in accordance with best-value and approved company procedures.

Day to Day:

• Develop and support a team of two procurement professionals

• Ensure a high standard of procurement service and support is available to the wider asset operations team

• Develop strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers

• Attend supplier meetings as and when needed

• Develop and periodically review assessment criteria to tier and classify the operations supply base.

• Develop procurement and supply chain strategies to manage the performance and risk of key tiered suppliers.

• Lead on supplier development and identify areas of supply chain risk, then develop mitigation plans

• Liaise with the Inventory & Spares Manager to drive and develop framework contracts for key goods suppliers and suppliers

• Develop and implement a critical spares procurement strategy and ensure its delivery

• Manage the governance and compliance reviews including audits.

• Develop and maintain a ‘live’ procurement programme to deliver a robust and reliable service

• Deliver targeted cost savings and operational improvements.

• Identify and drive plans for improvement of supply chain metrics (i.e. inventory, scrap, availability, etc.)

The Person

This role requires a resilient manager with confident influencing skills combined with technical insight, either from the renewables or a similar industry.

EDF RUK is a rapidly evolving business, proven experience in a leadership role, an ability to manage multiple workstreams with a continuous improvement mind set and strong analytical skills will be integral to this role .

• Telling The Story: You can effectively articulate the problem and explain why you are solving it. You can provide data that supports this and are able to explain the solution that has been chosen.

The Skills

• MCIPS or RICS qualified (or at an advanced stage of working towards full membership)

• Experience of working in an operational environment, ideally with an engineering or industrial sector background

• Confident team lead with strong coaching and development skills

• Proven ability to conduct successful commercial negotiations with suppliers.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of procurement management and a proven track record

• Preferably a degree level qualification in a numerate discipline and the ability to demonstrate strong supply chain and procurement experience.

• Working knowledge of contract law

• Experience of managing budgets and inventory management

• Excellent commercial mind with ability to understand key Business drivers

• Strong at building relationships with internal and external parties
