About the role

Privacy Engineer

Data takes pride of place in Virgin Media’s digital agenda. If you’re passionate about change and looking to join a team who are on a disruptive journey, you’re knocking on the right door. This role will be at the epicentre of our digital transformation, helping us create an industry leading data estate to support the way in which we build connections that really matter.

In role, you’ll be a privacy-savvy technologist that can translate policy into practical terms. This is because you'll understand, firstly, what the law requires and, secondly, how those requirements can be put into practice. In the team, our privacy engineers are the link between legal experts and technologists who can achieve the ethical awareness.

The privacy engineer is a critical role, driving the implementation of privacy by design in the design and development of processes, products and services, helping to build viable data protection compliance solutions that enable innovation and growth.

The must haves:


Experience in working with software engineers, developers, designers and analytics team to help build viable data protection compliance solutions


A background in using privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) to achieve specific privacy and data protection functionality


Ability to cut through technical complexity and define risk-based, pragmatic solutions


CIPP/T or equivalent privacy certification

Proven ability to manage adversity, results-oriented situations and conflict


Create and reinforce a psychologically safe, inclusive working environment
