Job Title: Principal Transport Planner

Reports to: Divisional Director

Direct Reports: None

Main Purpose of the Job

We are looking for a Principal Transport Planner to join a growing division to help assist with the technical delivery of a variety of transport related projects. Projects will be for local and regional clients such as Highways England, Network Rail, Luton County Council, Centro and SPAT.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

*

Provide support on a range of transport planning projects, including the preparation of transport assessments and travel plans to support planning applications

*

Undertaking traffic and junction modelling

*

Conducting research to support planning and transport projects, including desktop research, policy review work and meetings with stakeholders/partners as appropriate

*

Undertaking site visits and surveys and managing sub-consultants as appropriate

*

Prepare site access drawings and access feasibility studies

*

Deliver project work within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations

*

Monitoring financial status and progress of projects to ensure delivery on time, to budget and to Client’s satisfaction

What Qualifications, Experience & Skills are; Essential or Preferred to be successful in the role? Examples to consider / add to below;

Qualification

Degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning or a related subject (essential).

MSc in Transport Planning/Engineering

Chartered or working towards membership

Experience

Significant experience of transport planning in directly related fields

Ability to deliver transport planning solutions, look after a team of professional staff as well as successfully run projects

Experience of writing transport statements, assessments & travel plans

Excellent presentation & report writing skills

Efficient communication skills, excellent level of written and spoken English

Good all round technical knowledge of all aspects of transportation planning for developments from strategic appraisal through to transport assessments and traffic engineering

Arcady, Picady, LinSig, AutoCAD or GIS would be beneficial

Experience of working within a consultancy

Experience in highway / junction design at least at the concept design level

The ability to secure work and develop business with clients

Experience in public realm or civil engineering detailing

Skills

Familiar with current design codes and standards
