JOB TITLE: Principal Security Architect

SALARY: Competitive

POSTING END DATE: 30/06/2021

LOCATION: Manchester

Dreaming for tomorrow is about more than ideas and ambitions. We’re already building the next generation of vehicles, using repurposed and brand-new technology and techniques. We’re doing more than dream, we’re creating the future of mobility and automotive for years to come.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We are Jaguar Land Rover, and we’re in Manchester. We believe that all of our customers deserve a great connected digital experience and you have a chance to be a part of realising that vision. The teams here at the Digital Delivery Centre (DDC) are on a journey to transform the digital future of Jaguar Land Rover; designing and building innovative systems and products for one of the world’s leading luxury automotive brands in new and exciting ways.

Whether it’s a platform to remotely update cars via Software Over the Air (SOTA) as seen in the brand-new Defender, or systems to make the design and engineering of our vehicles more efficient, we work with all parts of the business on some interesting and complex challenges. Don’t just build another website - see the impact of your work as it makes a real difference to our luxury vehicles across the globe and to the customers who love them.

We’re looking for a Principal Security Architect with a passion for DevSecOps, innovative problem solving and continual improvement who wants to become a true technical leader. You’ll be working closely with other multi-disciplined engineers and leaders with opportunities to learn and enhance your career, as well as inspiring and influencing the wider organisation as we transform how Jaguar Land Rover builds and operates digital vehicles.

Leading the adoption and continuous improvement of DevSecOps culture and practices across the wider Jaguar Land Rover organisation, working with technical and non-technical business stakeholders. Collaborating with Security specialists beyond DDC to define and implement DevSecOps practices across DDC and IT.

You'll also be responsible for:

* Technical leadership of Security and DevSecOps culture and practices within the DDC including building out all elements of our Secure SDLC

* Ownership and definition of the detailed security architecture for a variety of cloud-native projects deployed globally including alignment with corporate and regulatory security requirements

* Constant and active engagement with Development and SRE teams to build and automate security and compliance into our applications and cloud platform

* Continuously improve yourself and the wider team through learning and self-development, communities of practice and brown bag sessions

* Leadership role within the DDC contributing to ongoing strategy, culture and improvement of ways of working

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

We’re looking for a leader who’s worked in a DevSecOps culture, either from a Security, Software Engineering or Ops background, so we’re keen to talk to people with 2-3 years’ experience of security architecture design and delivery. As well as 4-5 years’ experience in a hands-on security focussed engineering role within Development or Ops teams. With previous experience in a DevSecOps leadership role influencing change in a large organisation.

Beyond that, we are looking for some familiarity within a deep technical knowledge of security and networking solutions and technologies for cloud-native infrastructure and applications. With experience securing cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred) and technologies like Linux, Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with a variety of security tooling such as BurpSuite, OWASP ZAP, Dependabot. Built and managed automated CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, securing and deploying your code including SAST, DAST, IAST and RASP and automated policies-as-code

You should also possess:

* Experience of authentication and configuration including OAuth, IAM and Secret Management

* Experience with securing and managing open-source code dependencies

* Knowledge and experience of event-driven microservice architectures, RESTful APIs and message queues

* Comfortable with source code management and version control tools (Git/GitLab/GitHub)

* Built and operated bespoke enterprise grade cloud-native applications

If you have any of the following, then we’ll really be impressed:

* Worked in a true DevSecOps culture, owning and feeling responsible for your code in production

* Real world experience of practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Pair Programming

* Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo)

* Experience in modern incident management with tools such as PagerDuty

* Experience of Security Chaos Engineering and associated tooling and practices

* Managed data with NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB

SO WHY US?

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan, private medical cover and performance related bonus scheme. As a manager, you’ll also be able to select one of our luxury premium vehicles to lease at a fraction of the cost. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.

Please be aware that we may close this vacancy for applications before the stated deadline if we receive a high volume of interest. We strongly advise you to submit your application as early as possible.

Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
