Project Overview:

INEOS is implementing the design and construction of a large Olefin complex in Western Europe, including a Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) facility and an Ethane Cracker (ECR) with associated Utilities and Offsites facilities. The project will be overseen by a Program approach, and each of the individual projects will have its own Project Delivery Team (PDT) that will oversee the project work during the various phases from Select to Project Close out. The Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT) will coordinate the individual projects, working together with the PDTs, to capture Program synergies and other opportunities while ensuring an integrated execution.

Separate FEED and EPC contracts are planned to be awarded for the following four areas

1. Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) Unit
2. Ethane Cracker (ECR)
3. Utilities, Power and Infrastructure (UPI)
4. Jetty, Tankage and Logistics (JTL)

Position Overview

Wood has been appointed as Project Management Contractor for the FEED and EPC phase. We are looking for a Principal Process Engineer for a PMC roles in Reading. The assignments will typically be for ~12 months in a FEED Contractor's office and you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering design work being undertaken by the FEED Contractor and guiding the Owner on technical issues. There is the potential to follow the project to the EPC Contractor’s office for a further 18-24 months.

Responsibilities:

* Oversee the Process Design work being performed by the FEED Contractor, with support as needed from specialists within Wood’s Reading office
* Become familiar with the preFEED packages and current project/ site information sources to detect and resolve conflicts and to help the Owner’s team respond to issues raised by FEED contractors
* Familiarise with Process philosophies - Flare & venting, overpressure protection, control and instrumentation, waste water, isolation etc
* Familiarise with Ineos requirements as these will be applied to each contractor's work
* Review Licensed technology deliverables - PFDs, Heat and Mass Balances, P&IDs, Equipment Data sheets etc
* Review FEED Contractor’s deliverables and calculations for Process and Utility systems – PFDs, Utility Balances, Study Reports, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, emissions summaries, flare and blowdown summary, design pressure temperature diagrams etc
* Review FEED Contractor’s data for Utility, Power and Infrastructure systems- Demineralised water, cooling water, instrument/plant air, nitrogen, steam and condensate, fuel gas, natural gas, water systems, catalyst and chemicals storage and distribution, drainage systems, waste water treatment and discharge, fire water, electrical power import, generation and distribution, flare systems

* Review FEED Contractor’s design data for Jetty, Tank and Logistics – Ethane, Ethylene, Propylene, Propane, Butane, C5+, PyOil, Offspec storage, loading/ unloading and export, hydrogen facilities, Jetty facilities.
* Review Vendor data for process equipment
* General communication & regular meetings with FEED Contractor and Owner
* Participate in design meetings as Owner’s representative
* Provide Process Design expertise in support of the Owner’s team for the FEED/ detailed engineering of this project
* Display a good overall knowledge of all types of Process equipment found on petrochemical projects
* Oversee process/utility interfaces between Contractors and Owner across various packages

Skills / Qualifications

* Degree in Chemical Engineering
* Chartered Engineer status is preferable
* Experience of Petrochemicals work
* Good level of spoken and written English
* A proven track record of working on FEED and EPC phases for major petrochemical projects
* Proven PMC / Owner’s Engineer experience
* Expertise in Cracker technology, PDH technology, Utilities and Tankage (cryogenic/shale gas/export)
