Principal Operational Analyst

MBDA Missile Systems - Deliver For A More Secure Tomorrow

New threats are constantly emerging, and the future military environment is continually evolving. Our Operational Analysis team is working hand in hand with the MoD to ensure they have the capability to plan for and react to these changes. You’ll be working with our customers to explore their operational capability and how MBDA’s products can be used in the future. We need you to understand the military environment and be a strong problem solver.

Day to day you’ll be meeting with our customers to explore their current and future needs, comparing possible systems and solutions (which could include design trade-offs and cost effectiveness studies), and outlining concepts for future weapon systems. Within this you’ll use a range of techniques: wargames, statistical analysis, simulation and modelling, and experimentation.

A big focus for the team is on future combat air systems, which includes Tempest (the Typhoon replacement). This is a high profile, high value, long term programme and as a result the team is growing and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

What we’re looking for

* Broad understanding of the defence industry. This could be from a design engineering or end-user perspective (it would be beneficial if you had experience of the air sector)
* Prior experience of operational analysis, operational research, or decision support roles
* You’ll need to be a problem solver - comfortable working with ambiguity and from assumptions

Here’s what’s in it for you

* Incredibly varied work – you’re unlikely to be working on the same thing for more than a few months!
* Involvement in very early stages of project life cycles and concepting phases. You’ll be working on the systems of the future
* Opportunity to work directly with the customer (in particular the MoD)

Join a great team

Lots of exciting projects and large contracts are coming in and the team is growing - There is a real buzz around Operational Research at MBDA!

Benefits Package

*Flexible working *opportunities for career progression *paid overtime (subject to level) *great bonus scheme *comprehensive pension scheme *annual salary review *fantastic working environment and site facilities *social, charitable and sporting activities.

MBDA is an award winning company; committed to providing an inclusive working environment where our employees can be themselves and everyone has equal opportunity to reach their full potential. We value difference and know that a diverse community makes for greater innovation and brings a breadth of skills, experience and perspectives.

We welcome applicants who are looking for flexible working arrangements. MBDA is a proud member of Working Families – the UK’s work-life balance organisation.
