Job Summary

Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.


Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.


Approves and signs off on work.


Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.


Presents complex technical solutions to clients.


Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.


Participates in development of technical proposals.


Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.

Core Accountabilities:

Develops programs and manages projects, including coordination and providing technical expertise. Demonstrates proven track record of project delivery, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence. Engages in business development and selling initiatives, including managing client relationships and expectations. Provides specialised technical input and direction to studies and design for specific area of expertise. Completes feasibility studies, pioneering and outline detail designs. Makes decisions independently to resolve complex technical problems and issues. Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is mainly administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad, general objectives and limits. Performs various management and leadership responsibilities for a specific technical group or department. Ensures discipline project teams under their management comply with project execution plans, including design management, project management and BIM management plans, are adhered to throughout the project delivery process. Participates in development of bids and proposals. Determines operational objectives and requirements Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule and oversees technical resources to meet requirements on large, complex projects. Initiates and maintains contact with senior level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as being authoritative. Approves and signs off on work. Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others. Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Demonstrates mature judgement in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual problems. Assesses if targets have been achieved and determines where improvements can be make to increase efficiency. Liaises with authorities to obtain permits and approvals, and to discuss technical advances. Maintains and develops client relationships, including conducting workshops and presentations. Represents the organization at conferences and events. Maintains and develops the highest level of technical and leadership skills and abilities.

* Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited University CEng, PE, AE or equivalent licensing/registration as a professional engineer required or equivalent combination of education and experience Master of Science in Engineering or PhD preferred Member of a professional or technical society.
