Fluor seeks Principal Engineers that will be assigned projects, or perform engineering assignments, of high complexity. The candidate will provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction and act as a representative to the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence.

To enable us to meet challenging new markets and existing client demands, we are now concentrating on expanding our existing Piping team in Farnborough. The opportunities we have are long term and offer great career development.

Principal Design Engineer (Design Lead/Supervisor)

Requirements for the role include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

Develop and build external relations with client representatives, vendors, and subcontractors and interface closely with other discipline functions promoting Client Service Excellence.

Proven ability in the development of Plot Plans, Equipment Layouts and Design Specifications.

Leadership, supervision and responsibility of piping design team assigned to the project.

Communicate / present complex technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineering personnel.

Provide support to Lead Engineer for manhour estimates and manpower, schedule and budget planning.

Ensures adherence to Industry codes and standards as well as Department practices and procedures.

Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design.

Assist in the development of Departmental standards and procedures.

Overall co-ordination, review and development of a safe, economical and operable design in accordance with P&IDs and all company and project guidelines and specifications.

Coordinate the production of all design deliverables in accordance with the Project schedule.

Responsible for control, review and squad checking of all equipment packages.

Supervise Piping Designers assigned to Project.

Attend design review meetings, both internal and with the client.

Proficient with 3D CAD to review equipment and piping.

Perform and / or assist with technical audits.

Provide technical and advisory assistance to other projects, offices, department manager and discipline excellence leader.

Provide guidance and mentorship to developing engineers and participate in people development through training and seminars.

To be Considered Candidates:

Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located and be able to interview on site.

Basic Job Requirements

Recognised industry experience in Lead Design Engineer positions.

HNC or equivalent.

Other Job Requirements

FEED and EPC contracts including workshare experience with satellite offices.

Onshore Oil and Gas design experience in upstream, downstream, and petrochemical sectors.

LNG and/or Offshore experience preferred.

Modular design experience is also beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Registration preferred.
