Principal Civil Structural Engineer
Based in Farnborough, Hampshire, Fluor Ltd is the UK operating arm of Fluor Corporation, one of the world’s largest publicly traded engineering, procurement, fabrication , construction (EPCF) and maintenance companies, offering integrated solutions for clients complex and challenging projects.

Basic Job Requirements
Reporting to the Discipline Manager, Project Engineering Manager and Project Manager, the candidate shall perform their duties aligned with the Company Requirements by delivering their scope of work to schedule, to budget and in accordance with Company Activity Plans and any specific execution requirements of the individual projects. The position is a technical and leadership role. Demonstrable experience of managing large, >40 personnel CSA discipline team in a multi discipline, multi execution office environment is essential.
Candidate requires strong leadership/people skills, relationship building skills and dynamic approach to job execution. Excellent organisational and administration skills also key requirement.
Candidate is expected in a discipline leadership role to be able to demonstrate key management attributes addressing the core skills of adaptability, accountability, business acumen, customer focus and drive for results as well as other factors. This is in parallel to their technical knowledge and expertise.
Scope of activities
The candidate will be responsible for managing the execution of civil, structural and architectural scope in a variety of business lines including Oil & gas, power, infrastructure industries, and are expected to be able to demonstrate this requirement within their CV. Typical responsibilities and activities include preparing project specifications, design basis and requisitions, conceptual design, basic engineering (FEED), extended basic engineering and detailed design and engineering (EPC and EPCm) for reimbursable and lump sum projects. The candidate will be expected to perform resource planning, estimates and schedule planning or oversee the development of the schedules if assigned to others within their discipline team.
In addition the role will involve regular contact and coordination with Client and/or Owner representatives, consultants, specialists, vendors and construction contractors regarding CSA design, engineering and construction activities
The candidate will assist the department manager to develop an execution team, including recruitment selection. The ability to influence, mentor and coach the team as well as providing technical leadership and supervision to discipline team members is a key attribute to be demonstrated by the successful candidate.
The candidate will be measured on their ability to support the global business strategy of Fluor and will be expected to support the Department Manager in the execution of UK office or global corporate initiatives.
Develop discipline execution strategy on projects and drive though to execution.
Planning, scheduling and organizing jobs and managing the CSA project team
Provide technical leadership, guidance and supervision to discipline team members
Technical innovation and problem solving
Coordination of all CSA engineering and design activities on projects
Liaison with constructions sites, other Fluor offices, contractors and consultants
Report discipline status and requirements to the project and home office department
Co-operate and coordinate with third parties, project disciplines
Estimating, reporting and tracking
Performing discipline audits
Single point of contact for discipline on assigned projects
Input to proposals and manhour estimates
Perform Client engineer and PMC roles, when required
Develop technical documentation, specifications, scopes, requisitions as required.
Coaching and Mentoring discipline engineers
Other Job Requirements
Experience working on FEED/Basic engineering as well as detailed design (EPC) execution projects both reimbursable and lump sum
A track record of successfully executing projects using a multi office execution strategy, is essential.
Knowledge of internationally recognized design codes
Experience in different business lines
Chartered Engineer or Equivalent Professional Accreditation
Willingness to travel when required.
Good English language skills
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Good IT, computing and analysis skills
