We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Principal Engineer (Water) to join our Flooding and Water Management team. The Scotland Water team have an exciting new framework supporting contractor led infrastructure projects. In this role you’ll be responsible for leading the delivery team including technical assurance for delivery of the design solution and associated outputs for the project.

What does the role involve?

You will take responsibility for technical governance, with accountability for budgeting, cost control and programming of the design, following established processes and procedures, the Principal Engineer will also act as a key point of contact for the project with the client. On simpler projects you may act as the Project Manager.

You will also provide support, guidance and mentoring to more junior consultants within the team to develop skills and best practice.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess:

* A sound understanding of water and/or sewage treatment process and/or design parameters for infrastructure schemes in order to manage effectively the design works on potentially complex, multi-disciplinary schemes.
* Experience of working as part of an engineering consultancy within the water industry, including multi-disciplinary schemes.
* Capacity to influence strategic decision-making within the business and ability to make commercial decisions within defined parameters (delivers to agreed project scope, time, cost and quality).
* An HNC/D or degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject.
* CEng, IEng or equivalent status with a recognised professional body
* Experience in consultancy for Design and Build projects for Contractor led projects
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
